I love my gerbers. I have many other colors in my garden and around the house.
My Gerber Baby
That is lovely....I like them too. Jo
My girlfriend works at floral shop in a grocery store adn she brings home the not so good gerbers then I give them some TLC. They go into shock because there use to being inside but soon after being in the ground the perk right up very hardy. I have a question... Where are the seeds on them? I investigated I think their black and real tiny, but not sure. help me roadrunner
They're so neat! I always mean to grow some, but never do. It sounds like root division is a good way to propagate them -- http://www.myhouseplants.com/flowerdb/gerbera.html
This http://spokane-county.wsu.edu/spokane/eastside/vegetables%20&%20herbs/C166%20Saving%20Seeds.pdf says the seeds are not long-lived and should be planted as soon as possible.
There's not much about what they look like, though! I would think you'd wait until the flower was mostly spent and starting to dry, then put a paper sack over the seed head and shake it around in the bag; the bag will catch both the seeds and the fluff. The seed looks sort of like coreopsis seed, doesn't it?
This is about the only type of daisy I haven't tried...gotta change that :~)
Leon...I hate to tell you this...but your asking my advice just set all the floks on DG dying with laughter!! They know "I don't know nuttin about birthin plants"!! But I know Gerber Daisys and still love them...bought my BF one when he was in the hospital for a couple of days. Jo
I'll know better next time roadrunner, I'm glad gardenwife came through for me LOL. Thanks for the links gardenwife.
Someone always come though for us on DG!! That's why I love the place...And you and GF need to come down and visit us. Jo
We went to Tombstone and Bisbee last weekend. Thought about you as we went by the turn off, but we were doing the tourist thing LOL! We'll be going back to Tombstone in OCT. Maybe we'll see you then.
How about waiting until I get back from my trip East. I'll be back Oct 18th...I'll round up Farizona and TombstoneJan and meet you there...will even leave my guns at home. Did you see the gourds TombstoneJan made? Awesome. Jo
