Favorite fast food

Silver Lake, OH(Zone 5b)

darius, thanks for reminding me of Arby's - I blocked it completely because DH for some reason hates the stuff but I LOVE their Market Fresh delights - yummy deli style breads, freshly cut deli meat or roast beef, red onion, leaf lettuce, tomato, deli mustard, mmmmmm!

And a sandwich big enough to be a real satisfying meal...

I also love their chicken, bacon & swiss which is NOT low fat - bacon is my downfall, I can eat it continuously, daily, and so have to be very careful that I do NOT!!!

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Next time I'm in London I'll make a detour into Harrods then djm
:)

I love bacon too, which has reminded me of something I was going to ask, but I'd better start another thread rather than hijack mark's lol

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

s'pose I should have said I like Club Sandwiches because my bro owns a sandwich 'factory' selling to just short of 100 stores, garages, skools and hospitals

Willacoochee, GA(Zone 8b)

Fast food is too expensive in most cases for me.
maybe 4-5 times a year I eat at a place in town that does burgers and stuff like that.
They use locally raised beef.

taco bell, mcdonalds, burger king et el, are all well known for raping the natural world in their search for 99cent hamburger sales.
I'd sooner prostitute out my daughter than eat at one of these places.

Fin's - fish tacos
Japanese

Um, stalling out here. There is a difference between fast and converient and something I would really choose to eat. There are many little one of a kind places here that have great food.

philomel, I am risking death here. Run far and fast from krispy creme. They are the sweetest , greasiest donuts that I have ever eaten. They are, however a cultural icon and well beloved. We got one here in San Diego a coupleof years ago and The resopnse was amazing! It seems to be the idea of the thing. I grew up in a small town that had one mom and pop donut shop. My father would take us there at 5 am for lemon donuts. I wish I could eat one now but I might just as well apply it straight to my hips and save my system tthe trouble.

Woodburn, OR(Zone 8a)

Philo, be prepared..They just opened the first KrispyKreme here two weeks ago and people are still waiting in long lines for them. My DD waited an hour just to get one!

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

well, I can't say that I like White Castles (I have always called those horse burgers) LOL

I have always liked Rally's but since there isn't one it this town and the closest is about 30 miles away, I don't even bother. Jersey Mike's makes a good philly cheese steak sub here but I only have them maybe 3 times a year
I just don't do fast food that much as it affects me in unmentionable ways :(

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Same here, Flow. I know immediately, before I finish, that it was the wrongest thing I could have done. Still, there are times when I am in a situation that forces me to endure it. I always wish I was at my family's cafe with a good grilled burger made of real meat, the bun heated right on the grill, the tomatoes and onions and lettuce fresh as morning can make them. I guess it wouldn't be profitable to sell those anymore. Come to think of it, maybe it wasn't really profitable then.

Penfield, NY(Zone 6a)

frogsrus, your post made me think of a commercial on TV here this past winter with people wearing big cinnamon buns on their bums. LOL. Of course, you are right they are way too sweet but I think they fry so fast that they don't absorb the grease. I certainly think they are over priced for a little gob of dough and have no nutritional value. I haven't had one in two years. I'm speaking from memory when I was working and they showed up at least once a week. Honest!

Northport, ME(Zone 5b)

I eat a burger king 2-3 times a week. I go to Mickey D's 2-3 a week also. My B.P. says stay away but the BK girl is cute. I found out she has never been married but has a 6 yr. old daughter. The lady at McD. is my age and happily married. How will I ever cheat on my wife? Anniversary Sunday. 23 Years. I bought her a "watermelon" tourmaline. From Newry, ME. Try to buy one.Sorry, if I bought a trilobite you would have found it embedded in my head. I've known this girl for 23 years. By callin' her a girl I'm pushin' it.

Mount Prospect, IL(Zone 5a)

Philomel, the trip would be worthwhile. They are a yeast raised doughnut and they don't have a greasy aftertaste like some of the heavier cake doughnuts!

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Thanks for all the advice frogs, Carena and djm :)
I'm so curious now I shall just have to think of an excuse to go to London LOL

Did your DD think the wait was worth it Carena? - you don't say lol

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

At work someone always brings some Crispy Cremes to share in the coffe lounge,it's like an inner circle...Those of us that do not partake (yours truly included) refer to this sugar bathed circle of dough as "Fat Pills"lolololol...>^,,^< SB

Mount Prospect, IL(Zone 5a)

They also have the other with just icing on top, chocolate for instance, which aren't covered in glaze. Oh yum! Too bad you are so far away, Philomel and Mark, I'd send you some but they would be petrified by the time you got them!

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

very true. I'll just stick to the creme Dunkin's

Weymouth, Dorset, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

There's a pasty shop in my daugters town,'Hoggies' I think it's called which seels yummy traditional pasties, all sorts of fillings, including the original idea of one which has a savory side, and the other is apple.Apparently workers took them down the mines, lunch and pudding all in one.
Don't like butgers, but wouldn't say to to McDonalds breakfast.
Fish and chips, hot crunchy batter, white fish that just flakes off when you eat it,real chips, not this reconstituted potato muck.A few battered mushrooms to go with those,or hubbies is mushy peas..yeuch!!..

Mount Prospect, IL(Zone 5a)

We don't have any fish and chip places around anymore. We used to have Arthur Treachers Fish and Chip shops where the fish was the greatest, but all we have now is Long John Silver and their fish and chips aren't too bad, but small portions and kind of expensive.

Crossville, TN

Ya'll have made me famished...I love most of these places....don't think I could narrow them down to 3, but Krispy Kreme would be a list topper!! We finally got one in Tucson....and a local supermarket has started having them shippen in daily....not as good as buying them as they come out of the hot glaze, but "better "n nuttin". To die for! Jo

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Oh how I wish I had bought stock in Krispy Kreme a few years ago.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

It's just wonderful to walk into Krispy Kreme real early on a winter morning and have them ask "Would you like a hot donut?", and then hand you one, on the house. If I know I might stop there, I try to have a thermos of my favorite coffee in the car, and I sit right in the parking lot and eat my freebie and probably two or three more. Then I drive down the highway wishing I had been less greedy, but that hot treat is irresistible.

Ah, yes, I do wish I owned stock.

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Alas, not much fast food to be had here in Seward, Alaska. We have a Subway Sandwich and a Burger King... neither of which are my favorites.. even if they are the only ones. I hve found that our local Chinese Restaurant for the last 20 or more years, is the fastest food in town... even beats Burger King for speed, and certainly content! Here's a pic of two locals in front of the Peking Restaurant.

#1 Wendys
#2 Burger King
#3 Krystal

They serve a purpose even though I don't go there very often.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

BoJangles!! Hands down! I am from Colorado but my fiance is from NC. They are only out east near as I know. The Boberry biscuits are WONDERFUL!! Hope it expands to Colorado!!!

Spring Hill, FL(Zone 9a)

We do a Subway sandwich about twice a week because its an easy lunch option on a busy day, Don't do BK, KFC or McDonalds ever! There is an Oriental buffet with a Great Sushi bar in Spring Hill, FL where we go (when we're there in the "winter" ) that is my favorite all time spot for eating out

Mount Prospect, IL(Zone 5a)

When the Krispy Kreme has their red sign lit outside that says "Hot donuts," that is when they hand out free ones ! Don't have to even buy anything!

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

They have a RAX here and although I don't care much for their food, once in awhile I'll crave their mushroom swiss burger and go get me one :)

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

flowox, I haven't seen a RAX in years. I was told they went bankrupt. Their mushroom swiss burger was one of my favorites to have when there was no time to cook.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

Pond, this Rax is just one street over from where I live. I don't know how they stay in business but it's still here.....LOL

Vicksburg, MS(Zone 8a)

I may be the one person in the U.S. who has never eaten at a McDonald's - it has become a matter of pride for me and I plan on having the following on my tombstone.

He never ate at McDonald's

That said, my favorite fast food of all time is the greasy, mystery filling, taco at Jack in the Box. They have been serving them exactly the same for at least 35 years ------ sublime, culinary perfection.......

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Flow, I would be in trouble if it was in walking distance. Real trouble. lol

Copperbaron, I like your tombstone but you should have it in the shape of a Jack in the Box.

Mount Prospect, IL(Zone 5a)

After dropping off grand daughter at school this morning, I pulled into McDonald for a Sausage McMuffin with egg and a senior ice tea (free). (I always punch out the egg yolk) That tasted heavenly! (the sandwich, not the yolk which I hate!)

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

djm,Smart move, that way you get the pure protien of the egg and none of the fat.

;~) SB

Mount Prospect, IL(Zone 5a)

Takes away some of the guilt also! heheh :)

southeast, NE

Copperbaron - that is some accomplishment! Not many people can say they have never eaten at McDonalds!

Have any of you eaten at the new McDonalds 3 in 1? I've eaten their reuben and it was pretty good.

My favorite fast food is a local place called Runza. They serve runza are a mixture of cabbage and ground beef inside of a bread concoction. They also make very good juicy hamburgers.

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Nebraska Jewel, I used to make runzas back in the 60's. I got the recipe from a friend who was from.....you guessed it, Nebraska! I haven't thought of them in years; I used to really love them. I wonder if I still have the recipe?

What is the new McDonald's 3 in 1?

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Runzas...a new one on me.Kinda reminds me of the Pastys that coal miners would pack for lunch,we can find these around here
>^,,^< SB

Northport, ME(Zone 5b)

Fast food should always be: I've got the money, Can I have it now? (No I can't wait a few minutes; I'm on my way to work) I know they have problems too. They don't get paid squat.

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

taco bell aNd kfc!!!
