Favorite fast food

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

I was sitting eating my KFC just now and the a thought came into my head

I wonder what other people's choice of fast food is?

maybe go for a top 3.

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

Japanese - it's expensive so it's not eaten often enough
Chinese
KFC

Pittsburgh, PA(Zone 6a)

1. Wendy's
2. McD's
3. Taco Bell

All of which are inexpensive, especially Wendy's. They're my top pick because of their baked potatoes.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Oops, like my food nice and slow, no fast food here. I hate running around and pretty much go to work and back. I don't shop and I only eat one meal a day, if that, which would be dinner via Steve most times.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

I like TacoBell, too. I always ate too much, and loved the burrito supreme, three of them. I could eat two dozen of their original tacos. But I disagree it's inexpensive, because it takes so many to satisfy. A regular meal in a mid-range restaurant isn't any more, and may be more nutritious. Which never stopped me from succumbing to the temptation of TB.

Penfield, NY(Zone 6a)

The absolute best fast food I ever had was a donner kebab in Manly Beach, near Sydney, Australia. They were awesome and I've never had anything like them here. Definitely a fast food as you order while standing on the sidewalk and walk away eating it. Wonderful with the hot sauce and a yogurt sauce. A close second would be steak satay from a sidewalk vendor in Toronto, Canada. A yummy snack to eat on a stick.

Helsinki, Finland(Zone 4b)

1. French breads/Bread sticks from Care Picnic - the place is just so darn expensive I can make them much cheaper at homes, and they're just as good. Love them :)
2. Hesburger - Finnish hamburger place, expensive but good food
3. McDonald's (or Mäkki as we call it, haha)

Lindale, TX(Zone 8a)

Anything Tex-Mex, and we have a million of these restaurants here in Texas. Can't get enough of those chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce.

Silver Lake, OH(Zone 5b)

2. Blimpie's veggie burger sub sandwich. YUMMY!

3. Subway - their bread is soooo good

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

1. Don't know if it's 'fast' food exactly - but Indian every time. Not toooo hot, but something with fresh vegetables and chicken tikka, lots of flavour and topped with fresh coriander leaves. Oh and served with pilau rice and a good bindi bhaji

2. Chinese

3. True Greek (or Turkish lol) giros with or without the pitta

4. Kentucky fried chicken legs (gotta be legs, not breast *g*) a few chips and Heinz tomato ketchup

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

1) McDonalds - (Love them Big Macs)
2) Burger King

If not one of those, then I prefer an Applebee's, Olive Garden or Red Lobster.

Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

I can't really put them in an order of preference as it depends on my taste for that day. But we really like SubWay(especially $2.99 Tuesdays), Wendy's for baked potatoes and side salad,& Taco Bell for nearly anything on the menu and please add extra lettuce and tomatoes.

Mount Prospect, IL(Zone 5a)

Burger KIng
Mc Donalds
KFC

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Hmmmmm, I guess in no order of preference-Wendy's, Taco Bell and White Castle, although Goldstar is definately in there. LOL And fast food is not cheap food at my house. A quickie meal easily sets us back $25-30!

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

the chain store of all you care to eat Chinese food at a place called China One International Buffet

Taco Time---half pound soft taco

Jack in the Box--Jumbo Jack with extra tomato, pickles, lettuce all for only $.99 Yummmm we call this place our cheap date because with water it only costs us $1.98

Camilla, GA(Zone 8a)

Burger King
Captain D's
Long John Silver

depends on my taste of the day also, as to the order of these..Chinese, and several others are right up there also..

Woodburn, OR(Zone 8a)

Butterfinger Blizzards from Dairy Queen! yummy!

I'm surprized no one has mentioned Krispy Kreme! I'm not a donut person, but everyone seems to be crazed for them in this part of the world.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

I have never tasted a Krispy Kreme but there is soon to be a bakery in Boise. Opening in a little over a month so I am saving calories for it. LOL

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Carena, KrispyKreme isn't food, it's an emotion. You will find my thoughts on it in the Health/Dieting/Beauty forum, since I have recently sinned.

Does anyone outside Central Texas have Schlotsky's? I might not have spelled it right, too lazy to look it up, but the bread is actually better than Subway. Oh, yes, it's possible, but just barely. Good bread is a surefire way to keep me interested, but now I have given it up for Challenge.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Aimee, we have a Schlotsky's in Boise. At least I think it is still there. lol THe bread was good. I hardly ever eat bread though.

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

My family's favorite is Vietnamese and Thai food
-we love the aromatic flavors! Our other love
is Greek-the flaming cheese dish, stuffed grape
leaves with lemon sauce, Greek Salad, and Feta
cheese with Kalamata Olives!

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Indian, Chinese and Greek - not quite fast food but almost. I have access to the first two choices but finding a decent kebab is pretty difficult here.

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Only when I'm on the road,Wendy's spicey chicken,Hardy's chicken sandwich and Arbey's big beef w/horsey sauce.Do not eat the buns.My fav junk food is Arby's Jalapeno Poppers.Wicked Yummy!

Tellico Plains, TN(Zone 7b)

Aimee,we have Schlotskys in Wis. ,referred to as heart-attack in a sandwich around here...lol.......>^,,^< SB

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

One of the "problems" with having traveled to many parts of the world is that you forever pine for some food you found wherever you aren't. In Iran, I ate the very best potato chips on the planet, bought in a little, by our standards, neighborhood store, in a clear cellophane bag with no markings whatsoever. In Tehran, at a Sheraton Hotel lunch buffet, I ate eggplant and seafood and carrots, and some gorgeous desserts, all prepared in the manner unique to Tehran. Down in the Persian Gulf, I ate a little snack cake that should be distributed all over the world, but it's sold only in one tiny market. The houseboy used to prepare beans and some flat bread before we arose, and there was something about those beans and than bread that should be patented breakfast food. In London, I found myself awake every morning around 4 A.M., craving a cake that was sold out if I waited until dawn, so I would dress and go to the coffee shop to order my cake and tea breakfast. Then I would go back to my room and order coffee and breakfast.

In all of the places I have ever been, there was something good to eat. But in none of the places I have ever been was there more variety or more international cuisine than right here in the USA. I don't expect it to be like the food I ate in other countries. And I drool over the memory of the original dishes. Like perfume and music, food has a power to evoke memories.

When my Italian friend Marco came to visit the USA, he couldn't get enough of our fast foods. Same brands as he could get in Rome, but not the same product. I missed that ham his mother served in Parma.

Franklin, LA(Zone 9a)

1. Sonic tots w/chili and cheese.

2. Pizza Hut pizza (thick crust, meat feast)

3. I don't have a third.

I'm not much on fast food.

If you are naming a local fast food place like KrispyKreme can you let us know what they sell

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Mark, just the best doughnuts I ever ate.

Penfield, NY(Zone 6a)

I love the Krispy Kreme donuts too. But only warm. Mark they make them right in front of you. They are fried dough with a thin glaze. The glaze when it dries has a subtle little crunch. Thus the name Krispy. Compared to other donuts they are kind of small but they are very soft inside, thus the name Kreme. I don't believe they have any nutritional value whatsoever so eating one is a little bit of a sinful experience. :)

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

For me, fast food is forage food, the kind of stuff you eat when there isn't anything else fit to eat. All except White Castles. Just adore those gut bombers. And to prove it, I eat there every 2-3 years ;D

They are small square hamburgers that are cooked by steam above grilled onions. With the buns lain atop the meat so they absorb all the grease and onion flavor. Yum! With a side order of onion chips. They are onion rings that are shaped like french fries (chips in UK).

White Castle isn't fast, tho; usually wait 5-10 minutes to order and another 5-10 minutes for food. Just like a sit-down restaurant.

Coupland, TX(Zone 8a)

Julio's tortilla chips made in Del Rio, Texas. You can get them at some of the H.E.B.'s around here. We have a lady at work who brought them from Del Rio and we all had to have them. The seasoning is wonderful on these fresh cripsy chips!

I will never eat another Dorito again!

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Those sound similar to the ones that were always my favourite and can't get any more.

They were ring donuts with that lovely crispy 'icing'
Can only get them with ordinary sugar around here these days :(

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Years ago, I finnaly began to realize how much fat is in fast foods, and began to stop eating at them. It isn't until one gets to be my age and begins to realizes the food sins of the past have become high cholesterol and high blood pressure. Lack of healthy fast food makes it difficult to get quick and nutritional food if I'm out of the house, or on a trip.

Lately I have discovered ONE chain that has at least a few things I cn eat without imagining clogged atreries... Arby's, They have several "Market Fresh" sandwiches, thick freshly made on whole grain bread. I ususlly get the turkey and swiss cheese. It comes topped with lettuce, tomato, red onion, and a mustardy sauce.

And in a pinch, there's always Subways, with their 6 very low fat/calories subs, although way too much bread for me.

Camilla, GA(Zone 8a)

We have "krystals" instead of White Castle, and they are so good..They melt in your mouth..

Larkie

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

Oh dear gardengym, that's only 40 miles from me :(

Still a bit far to go if I get the urge for a donut though ;)

Mount Prospect, IL(Zone 5a)

Oh Philo, You've got to go at least once! I love their cream filled bismarks that are glazed all over! They have different fillings besides the regular doughnuts! Cream, custard, jams, etc. Now one of our supermarkets are selling them. The do-nuts are boxed by Krispy Kreme and the filled ones the store has in their bakery department. One thing I like is that they do not come back at you like Dunkin donuts.
