Sorry haven't been here in a while. The plants that stick up out of the water are Empress lotus.

Your Pond Pictures, Please!!!!
That pond looks huge - are you in the country or just one of those huge lots that seem to be common in the Eastern US? and are those big saucery things actual leaves or something else - COOL
azsteve905 your Victoria is beautiful...what I would give to grow one here. Are you involved with the Victoria Adventure organization?
Hi all. Those big saucers are the leaves of the victoria's. They are huge. We live in the city, but have a fairly large yard. So we are fortunate to add huge ponds. We are looking at adding another pond that size this year.
We are members of the Victoria-adventure site. I am the seedbanker for the waterlilies and Steve is the seedbanker for the lotus. Babs use to be the seedbanker for lotus, but she had to retire from the position.

azsteve905, isnt that something!
A just opened this thread and was really amazed at all the very nice work here.
And I DO mean work.
We have 4 small pond and I can appreciate how much effort has gone into your projects.
I got a big kick out of Badseed's shots.
We first saw the pond in the early almost finished stage and it matured perfectly in a very short time.
Here's a relatively new shot of ours.

Now you have me going. We moved here 4 years ago from MT where we had a great 1800+gal pond. I miss it so much! I would like to do another. I have never lived in a very warm climate that never gets cold so I'm wondering if cement would be better than a liner.I'm not sure I like the formed ponds since I will need to go with the shape I can dig. Next problem and the hardest one. Our island here is only 12 sq miles so my sources for supplies would be "none". I will have to ship everything in so I'm thinking simple is best. SO please! as much advise would be greatly appreciated. I have all the coral pieces you could ask for and no rocks. T
totally not on topic but what moved you cayman brac? I love the Caymans. They are fast becoming my favourite place in the caribbean - but I haven't spent any time to speak of on the Brac. I drool everytime I am down at the hibiscus that seem to grow like weeds, the lush everything. However I am sure that every apparent paradise has its gardening challenges.
Long story, Was going to spend 6 months here and 6 in MT. Did early retirment and had to pick one over the other so here we are. Can't say that I miss the shoveling show and slick streets but do miss the spring time, fall colors and smells!!! We are not very lush now since we have had no really rain fall since December!!! I really want to do a pond so I can hear the running water. I have large sauces of water out everywhere for the birds, frogs and lizards. We do have a fountain but it is hard for the little guys to get in for a drink without falling in. SO there is my story. IF you ever come this way looks us up. Trisha
