OK, I had asked before... wouldn't everyone like to see all the ponds in one thread? I know I would!
C'mon, take your best shot!
Your Pond Pictures, Please!!!!
I have one pond already, but we are in the middle of another. It started as a water feature. ROFL It is now 200 gallons and growing as we speak. Not only that it has three falls! I am taking step by step photos as it goes.
It is just my 13 year old, my 10 year old and me. DH is not into these things and goes to work to support my habit. :-) Wish me luck and alot of Tylenol.
Davena
Hey root, nice pond, is that rice plant I see in the back right?
My plants won't get to see this picture either, Weeds!
Love the arrangement around your pond!!
Rootdoc I'm looking forward to mine getting to the
size you have!
I don't have Rice plant,in back right against fence is castor bean,in pond is a dwarf Papyrus from Socal.
Weeds yours it a dream pond to me!
Lilypon Thanks,I am new to this, but as with everything else,I jump in with both feet!
Oh, ok, the castor bean leaves look similar to rice plant. If you see any plants around the pond you want to try, let me know and I will try and root you some. Things just grow here like it is jungle land. High humidity and hot temps are the secret. I haven't fertilized or watered this summer.
Root, I think yours is really cute! What is it now like a whole month old?? Two questions, what is the ear with the white on it? What is floating?
Weeds! I cannot believe you got yours in, filled and hidden so quickly either!
I laugh that you cannot see where mine starts and ends because it is 11x14 feet! LOL I still need to do a lot of work, need to get more rocks, etc. I had to expand about four feet all the way around to make room for all the tropicals.
Badseed, I cannot see your pond. Talk about tropicals, you take the cake. My pond is only about 4x6 and yours is huge.
If you see anything you want for next year, let me know. Root, I think we should send her some slow down pills, ou got any?
LOL!Weeds!!!!I think we need to send her SOME kind of pills!LOL!!!
I'm ready to jump in that big pond! The blue one with the slide!!!!
I'm cool for plants now Weeds, thanks,I will get back to you,I didn't even get this one set up,and I have decided to build a big one already, maybe 12x 18,not sure yet,I love the sound of running water,so I guess I'm a ponder for sure!
Yep, me too. I saw on TV today someone build a waterfall that was small and uncomplicated and just like I want. I will be making a trip to Alabama to get some rocks and this winter will build my waterfall. Can't wait.
Hi Lilypon, You just keep hiding those pics, we don't want plants with inferiority complexes.
Yeah come on Vi,I showed my little puddle.
Weeds your ponds is just great, does make a difference growing things in Fl. as to here with my desert location. Same with yours Badseed. Love them both.
Root is that duckweed in your pond. Looks like it , my goldfish would clean it up in a couple of days. Your pond is looking good. Donna
Here is a shot of mine taken last year. I took some the past month but with my Olympus and those are the pix that didn't come out. Donna
Rutholive, that is so nice! Who builds all your arbors and bridges? Please don't say you do it yourself, that wouldn't be fair. A pond with the mountains in the background, how cool.
You've made a beautiful oasis, Rutholive!
I think we have a chance Rootdoc-my Taro was purchased
with one tiny little leaf-now it has three! It will
probably take 10 years to catch up to the others but
we may shock them yet!
Yep Lily never say die!
Donna and Seed, yes Duckweed and some water lettuce.
Donna your place is just so peaceful looking!
The ear Root, confess about the ear! LOL Is it Chicago Harlequin?
Root, I just dug a pond, it will look like yours, it's about the same size and also up against a fence! I like right now it's just a hole in the ground, cuz I don't have a liner yet.
That is Xan Variegata.
Carena, mine liner was give to me,that was the only reason I started it,now I am hooked!Hope I can help you out with plants when yours gets going!LMK
Just got on Daves gardens and am sure pleased with all the watergarden postings. With all the hidden ponds I thought mine would qualify. Been messing around and do not know half of what is around in the way of plants. Developed a leak in the plastic and got most of it fixed. Untiull that time had to remove most rocks and have not got them back up yet. Planing to put liner in so as not to have to tear it all down.
Hi Jutech! Nice to meet ya and welcome to DG! Yep, I'd say you fit in with the hidden pond group. :) Lots of neat architecture around yours too.
jutech, looks like a pond to me! And that Miner on the Jackass is just tooooo funny!
Hi Jutech, welcome to Dave's! Glad to have another Florida gardener here. I love your pond too and all the garden art, etc. How long have you had it?
sledder, that is beautifully landscapped. Could you tell us what you have planted around it?
And while you are describing what is around the pond could you please tell me where the pond is? LOL everything is so lush I can't see any water!
My swimming pool liner pond--its now full of rice slicks (minnows?) from across the street that Im afraid will shred my gold fish when they mature in a year or two--but on the other hand the goldfish are multipling way too fast and its hard to figure out how to cull literally hundreds of minnows the size of dimes. A few are the size of nickels and look for all the world like bass, but im not an ichologist either so? Then theres the snakes---since Im in the south, cotton mouths are part of the neighborhood, but what can you say---have water--have food---have cover--have snakes. Most of the water snakes i have encountered have turned out to be the "musky" kind--and even garter snakes swim, but everytime I have to wade in to do some work--they all turn into anacondas in my head.
ahh..gee..tks. Starting from the front and going around to the right: Front is creeping jenny, then Stella Odoro (sp) daylily, bee balm, some annual (?), lamb's ear, ordinary hosta, ribbon grass, more hosta, liatris, grasses behind the waterfall, woolley thyme, more ribbon grass, yellow strawflowers, pink yarrow, white carnations, and finally purple passion. When I list them all out like that it's really a lot. My Goodness! Oh, and I forgot the name of the grey plant in the front right.....ummmm....drat...old age creeping in on me. What is that? **sigh** Snow on the mountain? no..that's not it. ummm....
BINGO!! :) Thank you!!
