Garden Watchdog makeover?

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Holy Cow! I thought I had the wrong website!

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Dave-got this error when trying to jump to a specific list of companies by state:

Not Found
The requested URL /statejump.php was not found on this server.

Apache/1.3.27 Server at gardenwatchdog.com Port 80

Thank you for this report - I have fixed it. Please let me know if there are any other problems you find!

So cool! Love it!

Dave...when I go there I see "Admin Menu"...and "manage the categories". From there it lets me choose to make changes, even "disable". That shouldn't be there for the general public (methinks). I tried disable on Plants:Aquatic...

You might want to check on this.

Oopsie. I'm heading that way now.

Whewww...!

Thanks, Shoe. I have fixed that. (Incidentally, it was only letting you (and only you) in - not everyone).

wow!...I feel honored! (It certainly reminded me of the Scif software, maybe that is why, eh?)

Sure do like the change, dave. Very good! Looks really great!

Dave, this is wonderful. You do such lovely work. I enjoyed glancing through "Who owns what" - didn't realize how many companies were related.

The "Search by company name" feature doesn't narrow it down to any particular location other than my zipcode. How do I find 'Joe's Nursery' in Oshkosh, for instance? Am I overlooking something?

Edited to spell 'Oshcosh' with a 'k'.

Start your search by company name. If that doesn't narrow it down enough, you'll then be able to select state, country and category to narrow your search down further. These fields/dropdown lists will appear at the top of the search results

Great, thanks, Terry.
Never Satisfied Pain Me now would like to see "City" or "Town" added, and the 'Category:' to include "Pond Supplies" and also just plain "Trees".

Murfreesboro, TN(Zone 7a)

No can do on city/town - there's too many of 'em to do a pull-down list; leaving it a plain text field is perhaps possible, but I don't think it's necessary. If you know the ZIP code you can search by that, it's underneath the field for searching by company name.

Categories includes Plants: Ornamental Trees and Shrubs - that's as close as we get to plain ole trees.

Also have one for Water Gardening Supplies, rather than pond supplies.

Terry - you've got all the answers!! Can she be stumped? I doubt it! :)

Oh, I'm sure I could be stumped. My kids do it at least once a day, just for fun (I don't think it's even a fair fight at this point, lolol.)

But geez loueeeez, considering how much time I've spent scouring every inch of that site, I'd hope I'd know those answers :o)

Terry
(who is typing with grape-jelly smeared fingers tonight. ~3 gallons of grapes = too many jars of jelly to count! Sigh - there's probably another 1-2 gallons that'll be ripe in a few days...)

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Terry, please don't get the smell of that grape jelly on the site, I'm on a lo-carb diet and homemade jelly is more than I can resist.

Once more, tell us how you find time and energy to do all you do, please!

The new and improved watchdog is wonderful! I really appreciate the clearer, larger font and the full page spread. Thanks so much! The garden watchdog is such a handy site to have.

Dave... HELP!

I just went to the new GardenWatchdog and tried to add a comment. It asked me to log in, which I did, and then click 'go back to the watchdog'. which I did. I was trying to add a comment about The Herb of Grace Nursery. Everytime I went there and clicked to add a comment, it asked me AGAIN to sign in.... over and over and over...

Darius, what happens if you go directly here?: http://gardenwatchdog.com/addcomment.php?compid=1900

Dave, that link let me make the comment. Thanks. Any suggestions why I couldn't get there by myself?

I don't know, but I'm going to look into it when I get a chance. Other people are leaving comments successfully, so I'm not too terribly worried (but still want to get to the bottom of it).

Dave, I just tried again what I had done earlier, and this time it let me in. May have just been a fluke. Thanks.
