Audubon really gets Lisa's Goat(s)

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Three of Lisa's kids have taken up residence at the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans! The local paper did a story about it:

The zoo takes very few animal donations and they're stringent in their evaluation of the farms where the animals live. They turn a lot of potential donors in for animal cruelty/neglect. Makes sense, since many irresponsible people probably think giving an animal to the zoo is an easy way to get rid of it.

Anyway, the evaluators gave her a glowing recommendation, saying her farm was one of the nicest they've seen.

Way to go, Lisa! I had to toot yer horn, because Howie and I are so happy and proud for ya. Be sure to post pictures on their petting zoo debut!

Yeah Lisa! I remember reading her post about being hopeful that they would be accepted. Both of best worlds cause she can visit them and then go home. Congrats Lisa!
So many celebrities around here huh Kim? LOL

That article was wonderful. I am so happy to hear that her goats are living in a friendly new home.

Way to go Lisa.

Thank you, I am very pleased with the whole outcome. I just miss those little fellahs so much. This was the picture that went along with the story.

Oh, Lisa, that is wonderful. I think that your goats will definitely know you, and that they will thank you for placing them in such a nice spot, with respectful and compassionate people operating the zoo. Thank you for that link, GW.

Wonderful write-up Lisa, you should be so proud! I love to see the look on a childs' face in a petting zoo, kinda like all their books and fairytales come true! Of course I can never resist to touch either!

Lisa that's wonderful what a great write up. I know you are so happy and heartbroke at the same time. You should be so proud I know you said how hard it was to get them to take animals and your animals passed with flying colors.(I never doubted for a minuted they would. I saw them babies) I bet I know who will be first in line at the petting zoo the day they are presented to all the kids. Way to go girl!

What a neat story! I'm so glad the zoo is going to take such good care of your little babies!

Franklin, LA(Zone 9a)

That's wonderful, Lisa. It's nice to be recognized for doing such a wonderful thing in such a wonderful way. Congrats!

Thank you all for such nice words. I was truly very attached to those little boys. I talked to the woman in charge today (I call her every other day--nagging check up on my guys)She told me that they have decided to leash train all 3 and use them for different educational purposes. They will also be in the petting area, but they will get to do many other things. I am proud of the little guys. They are so loving and sweet.

When I go to do my evening chores, feeding the big goats, I still miss the little ones. I had put some old cement steps in the pasture for the babies to climb on and it still seems I can see them leaping off. They really were fun.

What a great write-up...wonderful pic too. A bit of teary-eyed happiness here. Glad they got such a great new home (and gonna get special attention, too!).

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Ahhhh, Lisa, that is so neat and so touching! Think of the joy you are spreading to others. ((((Lisa))))

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

BooHoo, this makes me think of the last group I had, which I had to sell when the cancer made it too difficult to care for them. When I drive past the ranch where most of them went, I know most are already dead, as they were old in 1998 when I sold them, but I always look over at the pasture and wonder if Elsie was happy there. I know she would have recognized me, as would some of the others. Yes, I still miss my kids.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Fantastic!Way to go Lisa!!!!!!

OH Lisa...how wonderful....Now why didn't I think of donating my "kids" to the zoo when they were young? Shucks...I would have missed out on grandKIDS!! LOL Jo
