The lady in the shop told me it was a mitten box.I guess you could hang your hats or coats, etc. on it. I wanted something to display my grand kids photos on. Don't know what I will keep inside the box. I thought it was really neat. I paid $49.00 for it. Jo what have you got to trade me?

sgtdot, that's it!!! I kept trying to think what it's used for and that's why I didn't post but I've seen allot of people in Germany have those and it just looked so familiar but I just couldn't place it. You would keep your mittens and hats (tabogen?) in the top and hang your raincoat, scarves, umbrellas, and coats on the hooks :)
