DG Webring

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Something just occurred to me while reading the thread regarding ads on DG. First me thoughts went to how DG could be advertised effectively in various venues. Then I thought about the number of subscribers who have their own websites.

What about having a Dave's Garden Member Webring? Members could have DG banners on their sites and surfers could just click and browse through ring-members' sites. Any people who maintain sites having to do with gardening would have a commonality right off the bat, great fodder for a webring.

For information on what webrings are and how they work, here's a good article: http://www.techtv.com/callforhelp/features/jump/0,24331,2212046,00.html

I don't know a lot about the 2 subjects mentioned, Webring and DG Advertising. But, I have a sense this is a good direction to move in. The more 'we' members can get involved, the better. Yes, gardenwife, a great promotional tool, this Webring! I feel confident 'our' staff could pull this off, as others hadn't thought of doing.

Kimberly, I think your suggestion has merit.

Sometimes I run across someone here who has posted a link in a thread to their website, but know that is only the tip of the iceberg. A good example of a delightful site is TomTom's, only listed on her homepage. What an inspiration her site is!

I'd like it if there was a list of paid member websites, with a brief word or two about content. Limiting it to paid members might encourage more paid members, too.

I have people frequently suggest a swap of sites. I will place theirs in my links, and they will do the same. Problem is, they are almost always commercial sites (selling something, Hostas, daylilies, etc.). I have even been offered money per month to do this. I do not want this type of link. Only links to help others with their projects and knowledge. So I am against any Webring that offers products for sale.
