Or wishes she had. I read that drinking a small amount of vinegar daily is very good for you. While sitting in my bath I really thought on this.I decided to just go for it....hey..better health right?....big mistake!....I tried to down two tablespoons in a small glass of water.I almost tossed my cookies immediately.I cant imagine anything that tastes worse than apple cider vinegar. If anyone wants to try this, I suggest standing over the toilet. *YUCK!!!!
"I do use vinegar to bathe in and wash my face as well as a stripper for my hair, it works great for that!."
tsavo tries to kill herself.
Oh, my gosh. I was afraid to read what this said! Don't scare us like that, girl! Yeah, vinegar would be pretty darned nasty. About as bad as those powdered aspirin products like Goody Powders (right Shoe!!?).
Oh LOL sorry for the scare.:)).......Goodys Powders....YUCK! LOL.
Mom used to use vinegar for our spring tonic if we stayed home from school sick more than once. YUCK!!!! I went to school sick many a time. LOL
your mum was a smart woman!!!! LOL.
Yes, except then she had to take the day off and come to the school and take a sick kid home with the accompanying embarassment of that since she was a teacher herself. LOL Backfired at her a LOT. When I was trying to get out of taking a test (especially math) I could throw up in the classroom without fail. Or at least I got really good at pretending that I might throw up. LOL BAD GIRL.
LOL....oh man you were a little devil! gurl after me own heart` ;)....LOL!
heart or hurl? LOLOLOL
LOL.....both :))!!!!
well, I think we can be best friends or sisters then. LOL
hehe..hooraaah ! *dances around*
you might not be dancing when you meet me. LOL
LOL
tsavo, you heard right about vinegar, but it was the wrong kind. There is a vinegar you can get at the health food store and it has something called the 'mother' in it. It is a dark brown vinegar and has 'floaties' in it. The 'mother' is supposed to be the thing that is good for you. I have a friend whose husband drinks a small spoonful every day, he swears it keeps him healthy and colds at bay. I can say that I've never seen him sick or with a cold. He is very faithful to his morning sip.
Guess I must be a very strange person because I honestly like vinegar. tsavo..no wise cracks outta you!!
ever had vinegar pie? it is really good. :-)
I've always heard that some people take a small dose in the morning to curb their appetite - sort of a diet thing, now I see how that could work. Morning sickness first thing and who would want to eat the rest of the day? LOL
I often take a small spoonful in the mornings, always the 'natural' apple cider vinegar (with the Mother in it) from a health food store. An option is half a lemon squeezed in 8 ozs. water.
Darius: Half a lemon alone, or to augment the vinegar?
haighr, LOL
Justmelisa, vinegar pie? Sounds ghastly but I might be talked into a taste.
Ginger_H, you LIKE the taste of vinegar??? You are strange really strange LOLOLOLOL ( I couldn't resist a wisecrack since you told tsavo not to wisecrack but not me.) *sinister laugh*
I must say, my stomache is still upset from that crud. And ginger........you're just like a freak!..LOL....how can you like the taste?..... you see guys, i get all my weirdness from ginger :>.....hehehehehe...."waits for the slap".
It never did us Brits any harm - well not me anyway. You know we smother our fish and chips with it!! :-)

"Ponditis pats tsavo on the back!"
I like it, but not just by the teaspoon. I like malt vinegar on my fish(only the kind ya get from Captin D's!)
Gardenwife, the lemon is in place of vinegar. Helps people with an akaline system get back into a proper pH balance.
edited to say, "or maybe it's acid to alkaline?" I always forget which it is, LOL.

I don't know how I got this booklet "The Miracle of Simple" by Susan Lark, M.D. She clains you can banish the Blues in 3 minutes by mixing half a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in a glass of water and drinking it.
'Your intestinal pH goes from acid to alkaline, protein is broken down and ...amino acids are produced for your brain to make into neurotransmitters and ...suddenly...YOU'RE HAVING A GREAT DAY!'
She says people who come to her with depression are usually under tremendous stress and if for ex. they have a steak and a martini for dinner, it's like a punch in the gut. The huge amount of hydrochloric acid that gets made just to break down the food and alcohol puts a tremendous stress on your nervous system, leaving you feeling leaden and depressed. She also likes to take it when you feel you're coming down with a cold.
At least baking soda is cheap!! I'll have to remember to try it sometime.
Granddarling, who is not quite seven, and I love vinegar and tart or sour things. But my youngest son will retch the instant he steps into the kitchen if I've been using it for cleaning and the many things it does here. And vinegar pie is probably what my grandma called Preacher Pudding, a cheap dessert to make from things any farm had and a good way to make a plain meal look grand. We never had leftovers, and at times we kids had to take an old cold tater and wait.
this thread really proves the point that most threads here at DG turn to food. LOLOL Start with puke and keep going with vinegar pie. FOFLMBO
Actually I used to drink apple cider water all the time when I was having problems with kidneys....if you add some honey, it isnt that bad ..or maybe I just got used to it. Sure healed up the kidneys..
Not on the same thread, but I used to put the mouth thermometer over the register (furnace heater) to show that I had a fever to stay home from school. (Many, many years ago) LOL It worked!
actually a teaspoon in a full glass of water does wonders to flush the impurities out of the body especially the kidneys. you made it too strong so the taste was awful.
That makes sense about the bicarbonate of soda -- it's the same thing as Alka Seltzer, minus the acid to make it fizz. Here's a cool little article about that: http://science.howstuffworks.com/question116.htm
LOL celia.
When I was a child and at home sick with a cold/flu, my grandmother would give me a spoonful of honey an vinegar and slap a mustard patch on my chest. Cured me everytime.
Celia, my mother could never keep a thermometer in the house - she always broke them. So she would feel our foreheads instead. I would hold a hot washcloth to my forehead, dry it off quickly and then tell her I didn't feel good. She would put her hand on my forehead and back to bed I went! Sometimes I would hide one of my shoes under the couch cushions so I couldn't go to school (only had one pair of shoes). A few times when I was really desparate I would roll down a muddy hill on the way to school and then come home and tell my mom I fell. Boy, I was bad. The best part of hiding my shoe was I would find all the change that fell into the sofa when my dad was napping!! LOL
Ha! A double-edged sword, that.
There is an art to getting the thermometer just right: high enough to elicit sympathy and concern, yet not so high that you'd have to be flaming for it to be thought accurate.
You guys are lucky. I usually had to argue that I was well enough to go to school more often than trying to get out of it. Always subject to colds, bronchitis, anemia, allergies and stomach distress of various kinds, and I looked puny because of my thin build and yellowish skin. So it took very little for Mama to decide I had to stay home. I have actually sneaked out and bummed a ride to school after she left. After all, if I had to miss class, I still had to know the material, and what kind of masochist would willingly slip behind and have to work like crazy to catch up? Okay, maybe I wasn't very bright, but I was polite and shy.
WOW.....Pond youre right :))......this is the most response ive ever had on a post LOL! so many things to do with vinegar!:O.
I'm with you, tsavo, I can't even stand the smell of vinegar, let alone the taste, YUCK! I know some people like it, but I won't even eat pickles or italian salad dressing, no vinegar allowed here in my cleaning products either! My DD's boyfirend likes to slice up a cuke and pour white vinegar on top and let it marinate for a few hours in the fridge and then gobbles it down like it's the best treat ever, I'd have to call 911 if I tried one bite!
Ewwwwww....... vinegar cake,yuck!..LOL.
