PDB bug?

I tried to load in some caladium cultivars last night and it looks like something is not exactly right.

It looks like the pictures didn't load at all and when I clicked on the link given in the PDB pictures forum, this is what I got.(see hyperlink)

I've never had any problems over in the veggie section, but don't do much work with the ornamentals. The link shows up in the pictures forum just like I've submitted a picture, and I know that tons of stuff are entered every day without pictures and they aren't part of the pic.forum.

Going to go over to the PDB and see if I can add a picture. Will report back.

Edited to say that the pictures are in the PDB,but not showing up in the pic.forum...odd ,huh?

Also, there are more entries showing up this morning than there were last night when I type 'caladium'into the search box...curious.

Hi Mel,

All of this has been fixed.

To expand on Dave's response a bit (*grin*), two things happened last night that caused you to wonder what was going on:

1. Dave implemented a holding queue for all PDB images. This does several things, including allowing the editors to review the images before they become part of the PDB (and hopefully square away any issues with partially-loaded images, misnamed plants, etc. - although I won't swear it'll be 100% errorproof.) Another big benefit is that it allows people who want to enter a bunch o' images all at once to do so, without glutting the PDB forum and the nightly newsletter. The PDB has been growing quite rapidly, and the daily newsletter reflects a lot more activity than was occurring even a few months ago. Hopefully this allows the best of both worlds - lots of images can be added, and the newsletter can be kept to a size that allows us to savor the new additions.

2. When I saw your first Caladium entry go in last night, I started looking at the one entry we had and I realized that we had several named varieties in that one basic entry. I pulled them apart into separate entries; hence the sudden, mysterious increase in Caladiums :)

At the same time, I put together a list of all the most widely-avaialble commercial varieties, and will try to plug many of them in the PDB today. So if anyone has images to go with the new entries, please stay tuned :)

After cruising around the PDB this morning,I kinda figured some of this out.

I just knew that from the last time I entered anything till last night(which has only been a day or two)things had dramatically changed.

I like the idea that the workload has been managed for you all. It's so hard to catch glitches after the fact.

Will get the rest of my caladiums plugged in shortly.
