Hardiness Zones

Is there any sense in checking more Zones than the lowest one?
BTW, how do you get the list to read in Fahrenheit? Celsius is best left for Baa (~:

Yes you should check ALL applicable zones. here's why. Let's say you enter a plant that is hardy from zones 4-8. You check off only the "4a" checkbox

When I look for plants hardy to my zone 6b, this plant won't come up in my search becasuse the zone 6b box wasn't checked.

As to Fahrenheit vs. Celsius. The rationale was this: adding both was very bulky and hard to read, so we had to enter only one. Since *most* American gardeners know their own zone and what that means in terms of temperatures, they don't need the accompanying temperature ranges as much as the rest of the world, which generally operates on the metric system, and isn't necessarily acquainted with USDA zones.

Ulrich--maybe I can answer your first question. If I want to search for plants compatible in a say Zone 5B using the "Advanced Search" then each individual zone is needed to be listed for that search to fine them. If it just showed Zone 4-8 then I think the search tool would have to be alot more intuitive (thus more complex).

Thanks for the explanations; I get the point and am glad I asked.
