Finally signed the Listing Contract to sell our house today.
Finally, I'm scared. What if this isn't the right thing to do? What if the house doesn't sell? Where will we go if we do sell? (We do know the general location where we want to be.) What if we cannot find a house as good as this one for similar money? Was this a dumb decision?
House is a mess. Cannot keep the garden nice and the house, too. Keep tracking in mud from the garden. Boxes everywhere, packing up clutter but creating more clutter. Need at least 2 more weeks to finish cleaning, etc. but would miss the window of opportunity as this is a tourist town.
Oh, what have we done?
Today was the Day!
darius, It will all work out. Moving is the pits. Sorting, should I keep it , toss it, etc. Can you imagine the thoughts of the women years ago coming across the Atlantic? Step out in faith. One day at a time, Sweet Jesus!
I wish you luck in all you do. Just keep the faith.
Darius...you have a darling house...I'm sure you will miss it in one way when you move...but going forward is fun too. Jo
I think maybe the best way to look at things is this-you don't HAVE to sell it. You CAN turn down offers. Maybe if you don't look at it as being so FINAL or an end, but a chance for a new beginning, it won't feel like you got cornered. Maybe you could make a list of all the reasons to sell and all the reasons to stay. You'll probably come back to the decision that selling is best. :) I bet it is hard to give it up after all your hard work, but I bet you learned a lot too. Now you can do it again. Hugs Darius! Now go put your feet up and have a cool drink!
Darius, moving is awful - *thinking* about moving is worse! If the house doesn't sell, you'll stay there ;-) If it *does* sell, you will find a place you love! (you will *never* finish all the cleaning, etc that you want to do, trust me) This is a great time for sellers and buyers alike - we just refinanced our mortgage at 3.75% (30 yrs w/ a 7-yr balloon, will be paid off in less than 7 yrs). Best wishes to you, I know this will work out great for you!

Darius,i am in a simular circumstance! I bought another house in the blink of an eye, but haven't sold this one yet(it has been one yr.) Now i have been getting ready to put this one up for sale, i know i can do it myself as i have sold one house already. This house is great, just not enought property. The other house has a huge pond(we've made even bigger) and has 20 acres to plant and play on!I think if there was a lighthouse on it, then i would move there right away, lol
It WIll work out as it should. Everything does, all you need is faith.
Anastasia, dahlin, the only difference between the immigrants from cross the sea and people today is that today
we as a society are much more "stuff" oriented. We have too much and cant seem to let go of anything.
In a way they had it better back then - they just decided what one little thing they could possibly take along...and lucky for us, many times that choice was an heirloom variety of seeds or a cutting from a beloved fruit tree or rose.
Update... we didn't actually give the Listing Contract back to the Realtor yet so technically, we aren't For Sale. Today we started looking to combine the 1st and 2nd mtgs. into one cheaper one. If that happens, we can stay!!
The financial problem is self-employment. You get a lot of tax write-offs so you don't pay as much in tax, but it comes off the income bottom line so you don't qualify for as much.
Lavanda, I agree we have too much 'stuff' today! I'm a terrible (or terriffic, depending on viewpoint) pack rat, LOL!
So am I... and I blame it on my ancestors!
Lavanda, That Texan drawl of yours...ohhh! Are you Thee Yellow Rose of Texas? Or Scarlet O'Hara's Texas cousin?
Can you tell me all about Tex-Mex?
Re: ancestors crossing the Atlantic, I was thinking of the doubt any of them may have had 5 miles from port, and how many more to go in a cramped boat and no SURE, Ban, or Rightgard. And no Travel Agent. Gutsy Broads!!!
and no baths and very few if any toilets!
LOL, I am THEE Texas Lavender.
Thanks about the accent, I just write like I talk (and you should hear my non-gringa accent Spanish.
Sure, I can teach ya all about Tex-Mex (food) as well as authentic Mexican cooking.
And I just happen to own two email lists about those topics (well total 200 lists about cooking, gardening, and Mexico)
Lavanda, would love to be on a tex-mex cooking list!
Darius, you have mail. Btw, since I love books I think you are a terrific packrat. :o)
tiG, Lavanda becomes our Tex-Mex mentor.
darius I don't know how I missed this...sorry!! So...you are not moving and must be so happy - right??? Great!!! So I get to see you soon after all!! :-)
