Oh no!! my conservatory door keys went missing for a day and guess who under promise of a reward found them again!! :O
The trouble is she is the stubbornest mare around and a confrontation and demanding where they are comes up with nothing!! but I dont want to reward her for doing something naughty. What do I do????

Come on you lot I know you can help me?? :))

Don't leave them where she can get to them. Anamals are often like small children. You just can't leave important items within their reach.

LOL YOu have your hands full! I guess someone really does not want to go to school. :)

Psilo, I just saw a great toy in a catalog for losing things like keys, remote controls, or anything you tend to misplace (or, that gets misplaced for you perhaps :)

It runs off it's own remote so you don't want to lose it ☺ Then, you put the various beepers on each of the items you'd like to beep when they are lost. Looks like a great idea if you don't misplace the "main" remote :)

LMK if you're interested & I'll see if I can find the catalog where I saw it ☺

Possibly a punishment when the keys come up missing. This would not be totally fair though because she might not always be responsible for the missing keys. Maybe you could hide your keys in a spot where she can't find them! She sounds like a smart girl who knows how to get what she wants.

yes I tend to agree with the hiding theme. i have two sets of keys for each door and they are on keyrings together. So I will have to hide one of each somewhere she will never find them. Its sad I know but I guess I should fight fire with fire! :((
the other part of me though wants to know why she is doing it?? maybe, as she is the only girl (I also have 2 boys) it is a form o f attention seeking??

My DD has always been good at finding lost things. I don't know how she does it. I never rewarded her for finding my lost items, other than to praise her. She was just the "finder" in the family, that was her job.

Gads! I miss her sometimes.

Anyway, she didn't hide the stuff, she just found it. I know this because she often found things for me only after I described it to her, since she had never seen the missing item. Maybe you've just got an enterprising "finder"?

I hope so, anyway.

If you really think that she is hiding things, you could hide something that she values. Tell her you'll try to find hers if she tries to find yours! It wouldn't be as much fun for her if her stuff was missing.

Great idea, Ronna. My 8 year old GS is a "finder" I misplace something and say....Heck, I'll just wait 'til Andrew comes to find it. He can spot anything new in the house too. I lay something down that I want him to have and have fun waiting to see how long it takes for him to notice it when he comes over. Jo
