Seem like "Cool Looking Lady" would be a nice contrast to the Friar's Lantern you're wanting. Has that same green, Alyssum?

Just a note:

These are not MY daylilies; they are ones I drool over and would like to have if someone does a Daylily Co-op next Spring.

And I think Alysuum is posting the ones she drools over.

"eyes", I used to have 'Double Grapette', and I think that will give you the true purple you want. I have some seedlings from it, and they are all more of a red-purple (like those grapes). BTW, your 'Intrigue' Canna is beautiful among my hostas, especially some golden color ones. John

TLC -- you are right about the green contrast of the "Cool Looking Lady" for the "Friars Lantern" -- would look great together.

Iola, WI

TLC,
You are the closest to my zone (I'm zone 4 in central WI) Maybe you or the others can tell me, do most of these varieties bloom this far north? If not, is there somewhere specific I can find the ones that do?

I'm over run with "ditch-lilies! ;}

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

Catlady, I'll send you a piece of picasso, I owe you anyway. What brugs do you have, still want a frosty pink?

Weeds, what did I miss? Walk again? Been trying to figure a time I could slip off to visit. I'll email the daylily farm to find out what they have left this year. After June she's open by appointment.

Is this what you want, Catlady, dwarf variety?

Good grief Weeds! It's a real pain isn't it! More ways than one I'm sure. Are you going to work every day or what?

Gilmer, TX

Gingerlily, I don't know what you owe me for but I'll sure take that piece of Picasso. Beautiful picture of him!!!

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

Cat, tell me what brugs you have, so I can send some at the same time.

I want all those pink and purple ones Arlene (TWC) just posted! All of them!!!! LOL

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Badseed,
Me too, hope someone can put together a co-op in the next year that would include these. On the other hand . . . it might just break the bank.

Well, Gingerlily,
Tried to think real hard on something you might owe me for but couldn't come up with anything. I can tell you I sure enjoyed growing those roadside lilies this winter and I have more left to start for next year.
Unfortunately, after babying them along all winter . . . .
set them out . . . they were doing great . . . until the farmer decided to spray for weeds . . it drifted over and all 30 of them have disappeared. So will start over next year.

That Picasso is beautiful!

TLC, I don't think I owe you anything, it's Catlady I owe. But if I've forgotten something lmk.

Gilmer, TX

Don't know what you owe gingerlily, but believe that Picasso will even the tab. Oh, now I remember (a brief senior moment) did we trade brugs last fall?

Arnett, WV(Zone 5b)

The pict of the Morrie Otte is gorgeous!!! I must have one of these! Does any one have one they would like to share?

Cortlandt Manor, NY(Zone 6a)

tmbolin: Any luck "nosing" around??

south central, WI(Zone 5a)

Shuttlebunny, If you are within driving distance to Sauk City, there is a lady-Gloria Nolden-who lives on a farm and sells clumps of plants-she may not have the trade name but has hardy plants and you get more than a little fan, with very reasonable prices. She used to sell at the Dane County Farmers Market-but it got too much for her to pack and go, if you are interested -she is on Hwy 12, the Madison side of Baraboo.

Sweetwater, TX(Zone 7a)

Please be kind, oh great growers of daylilies, and answer my stupid questions. I know very little about daylilies, but got some at a plant sale. I got a pot packed with leaves - some variegated, some not. I planted the whole bunch, without separating them, because I didn't want to mess anything up.

Now, I have a beautiful orange flower (the color of the common "ditch lily" I guess - maybe a little peachier) that looks like it is a "triple" - a flower inside of a flower inside of a flower (well, you get it). The flower is closed tonight so I can't get a picture, but there are six more buds which I hope and assume will show their faces soon for the camera.

Is there such a thing as double and triple daylilies?

Like I said, please be kind with this newbie!

Cheri,
I think there are fancy ones like that.

Shuttlebunny,

They come back year after year here. Are trouble free.

Sweetwater, TX(Zone 7a)

OOO - maybe I have a Fancy One! Do slugs like daylilies?

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

Cheri, sounds like you have 'Kwanso' there, a double/triple version of the very popular roadside daylily, Hemerocallis fulva.

Franklin, LA(Zone 9a)

hey Cheri

nice name. :-)

I have read several accounts of double and triple "ditch lilies". I know that there are named doubles, maybe yours is one of those.

I haven't had slug problems with my daylilies, but maybe they just prefer the hostas ... lol! Seriously, Daylilies are pretty disease and pest resistant. Just give 'em a well drained location, enough water and enough sun and they will be fine.

This is why I love 'em.
Cheri'

PS variegated daylilies??

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

There is a variegated form of Kwanzo out. I don't remember where I read it though. I'd almost kill for one!! Wanna trade???

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

Badseed, yes there is variegated leaved 'Kwanso'!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I found this, but am still looking for a picture.

"H. fulva 'Kwanzo Variegata' has variegated foliage. This form has been cultivated in Britain for over one hundred years but only a few specialists stock it today. Its semi-double orange flowers are marked with coppery red and in good soil stems can reach up to 1.2m (4ft)."

Franklin, LA(Zone 9a)

I must have some! LOL

I will add that to my wish list for next year. I'm trying to be good.

(I will not get any more new plants this year ...I will not get any more new plants this year ...I will not get any more new plants this year ...)

Cheri'

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Hey Cheri, if that works, let me know! LOL I cave in to, it's on sale, it's just a trade-not really buying anything, what are the chances.............etc. LOL

Franklin, LA(Zone 9a)

LOL!
Sadly, it's not working very well. I just sent off my half of a trade, anticipating recieving a wisteria start. But if I trade, it's not really getting a new one, 'cause I'm getting rid of one and getting one, so I'm breaking even ... right? lol!
And I'm awaiting some ditch lilies for postage ... *sigh* *(but i really really really needed them!)

BUT my patio is now a refugee camp for temporarily homeless plants, due to the 6 weeks of un-relenting rain which has finally ended. So, I must get everything planted! There aren't enough pots in the world! This is it, no more plants. this time i mean it. . .

(hello, my name is Cheri' and i'm a plant-a-holic)
