Back to God's Country

Helena, AL(Zone 7b)

I am heading Back to God's Country On Tues 7-8 for a Family Reunion. Most of my family still live in various parts of Texas, mostly in the Houston area. And when I say family, I mean LOTS of family! I have 4 brothers and 4 sisters...when you count spouses and kids and grandkids, there are about 40 of us. My Dad was from west Texas, about a hour and a half drive from San Antonio , the little town of Campwood, so that is the area we all return to. We rent 3 big houses on the Frio river in Concan. Talk about hot! July in Texas has got to be experienced to be believed! We spend most of our time "tubing the Frio, its the only way to keep cool, and with 8 siblings, keeping cool is a must!!I am so glad I got all my trades in time to take care of them before I leave. My DH is not going, he cant get away from work, so I am trusting him to follow written care instructions while I am gone. I'ts worse than when I used to leave my kids when they were small, lol.

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

Have a safe trip and have fun. I know what you mean by leaving things in DH's hands...did that once. (notice ONCE)Have fun!

Hope you have a wonderful reunion, and that all will be shipshape when you get back.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Folks, let me assure you, she really means God's country. The Camp Wood area is hilly, with numerous of those cold rivers and lots of interesting rock. Many of the rivers have rock beds and are shallow enough in spots to scarcely get your ankles wet when you go wading. People drive through and across them as a matter of course. It's a camper's dream.

Bamasharon, I sort of envy you, but couldn't deal with so much family. Have a wonderful trip, and if you come through Georgetown or Austin, maybe we can have an iced tea together.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Hey, Sharon - Have a great time! As someone without a lot of extended family, I think it would be great to catch up with lots of folks (as long as I could retreat from the crowd periodically - I'm an only child!).

Cleveland, OH(Zone 5b)

Sounds great! Have fun!! My dad had 17 brothers and sisters!!! So I know how overwhelming a family reunion can be!!!

Helena, AL(Zone 7b)

Aimee, I wish I could stop and see you! You are right about the rivers, cold and crystal clear. I will be sure to take lots of photos.

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

I hope you have a great trip sound like a lot of fun.
