2075 miles later

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

We have arrived in Alamogordo about 3 hours ago. I'm totally exhausted. The trip was wonderful. We decided to go through Kansas and stopped in Colorado Springs and spent 2 nights there so we could go up Pikes Peak. We took a Cog Rail up to the peak and it was just the most amazing thing I have ever done. Standing up there at 14,000 feet looking down at the world. You could see 150 miles into the distance. I took pictures and will share them as soon as I get home unless I find that there is a photo program on this computer. Haven't checked yet, I just logged on and came straight here.

As my back does better while driving, I drove the entire way all except for 200 miles when I took a nap in the car while Jim drove. I've been taking my muscle relaxers and the drive wasn't so bad, although my back hurts right now but the sights that we saw, it's worth the pain :)

I'll be back again some more later on so hope to chat with you some more.

I have to e-mail hillbilliebo and see how my poochies are doing :)

Glad you made it safe and sound, will be looking forward to your pics! Loved the dogs--what a friend you have!

Sounds like a fun trip. The West is so beautiful, I just know you'll enjoy it.

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Happy to see you all made it safe and sound. I love those long trips and the scenery one can only enjoy from a car.

I'm feeling a bit better today, not so tired and exhausted.........lol

It actually rained here today for about 2 minutes and not enough to even get the ground wet. Not good for this area as everything is just dry as can be. I have no clue how they are going to control the fireworks here as it's so dry...........am curious on that one.

We had visited Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs and drove through the place and the next morning on the news at the hotel we heard that a woman was found dead in the trunk of her own car that was parked in the Garden of the Gods. Can you imagine, I probably drove right by that car :(

I have tons of pictures, but will have to upload them later on when I get a bit more time. Everyone is still visiting and I don't want to seem rude by hanging on the computer...........lol
I miss you all!!!

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Susan, I am so glad you made it safe and sound :)

Garden of the Gods! The last time I saw it was during a freak snowstorm in October. Never got to see the Peak at all, continually covered in clouds. But it was a beautiful park.

Sounds like the summer monsoons are beginning. You will love the rain, when it does come!

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Ah, I can exhale, you have arrived safely. And you are seeing by car a lot of our country I have only seen from the air, so I'm a tad envious. But not of the drive through the mountains. I don't like that! At least you decided to do it when the weather was kind and not in snow and ice.

Have fun, and be safe.

The long drive didn't catch up with me until today. We went to an IMAX movie (Ocean Oasis) and when we got back, we all laid down and slept for about 3 hours.........lol
Poor Jim got really nauseated from the film........he gets motion sickness from watching things that move quickly. He's alright now though.

The rest of the family, well, his 2 brothers and their family will be here tomorrow and we're having a cook-out for the 4th of July. It'll be fun. Not sure if they'll have fireworks or not as some got cancelled in Alberquerque. Will find out tomorrow :)

It's great that I'll still be able to get online here periodically. Everyone is really nice. Jim and I had a little spout but that was because we were both exhausted and stressed from the long drive

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Can't believe three hours was enough! I would need to sleep an entire day to even hope to level out. Sounds like you are enjoying it just right. And I'm really happy you can get here from time to time. In fact, you're getting more DG time than I am lately, hehe.

Mercer, PA(Zone 5a)

Hi Susan! Sounds like you're havin a good time!
