Is that YOURS Weeds? I'm so jealous, does it smell heavenly? You must come to the swap and bring a blooming plummie so I can smell one, K? Mine are waiting for roots, 1 week old, wah!

Surely, You can find it here? Just wipe off my drool! http://www.stokestropicals.com/default.php?cPath=479&osCsid=af82f1b10120d09fa29320a8af8c0e4e

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Dang it Vi,drool all over here now too!wow,I never had any idea on all the colors, just got my first one.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Hi you two. These are easy to root but I have found they take a long time. I don't have much experience. I got this one at a yard sale. The husband took us around back to see his plants (they were not for sale) and I just had to have one so he whacked off a piece and gave me instructions on rooting it. Been whacking on mine ever since.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

I have yet to see mine bloom, got it for Kyle at the swap;0)

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

How big is it? Mine bloomed the first year, loves the sun.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

2 or 3 ft.looks great to me,sure was amazed with all the colors,DW has someone coming from Hawaii next week, wonder if cuttings are easy to transport, can they be cut like brugs?

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

This pink form looks similar to Espinda pink. But there are over 500 named kinds now so it could be just about anything.Hard to keep them sorted anymore.

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

Awww, mine's just a baby, 12"!

The scent, Weeds?
How's the scent???

BTW, see who else is coming to our swap?

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Cuttings are very easy to transport. They have a milky fluid which drains when cut. I think this needs to dry. I just lay the sitcks (cuttings)around for a while before planting. I put sand in the middle of my potting soil so the stick is actually in sand to root. They don't like to be moved by wind or anything once planted.
Eclipse, how do you root yours?
Vi, I will go out and take a whiff this morning. Have the onne blooming over behind the pond and have to climb over there!

Don't get your feet wet!

Connie:

Is there a red band on the back of the flower?

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Mine is budding up ready to blmom in about a week. I love the smell. I had 5 but lost two because of the rain. I thought they liked a lot of water but I went to pick them up and they were mushy. I know two are the same and I'm hoping the other one is different. The two that I know are the same as yours Connie.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

No red band on the back. What does that tell you Delecie?
GRC, you mean the whole plant died?

Barnesville, GA(Zone 8a)

GRC, will you e-mail me a whiff?

FYI--Here are some more sites to drool err learn from!

eyes, you are quick to come up with a name! I love these carefree plants but hate having to bring them in during winter.

lagrange, GA(Zone 7a)

Yeah Connie the whole stem was mushy. I made a mistake when I said mine was the same as yours. It is yellow with a pink center. They do smell good. This picture was actually a second blooming of mine last year. Want to swap a cutting later?? Vi the email is on the way. LOL

I just ran across this thread while looking for another. The original pink posted here by Connie looks like the cultivar 'Playful,' which is a C-Stars Nursery cultivar. Here's mine:

I am SO jealous of these pictures! I finally got some cuttings (bought off e-bay from someone from HI) they came lightening fast to my work. I was so excited! I had a lot going on last Friday here at work and i forgot them. I thought about them all weekend wanting to get them potted up. I came in this morning and..... NO CUTTINGS!!! The cleaning crew threw the box away!! WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. I actually feel sick to my stomach right now. I even went down to the dumpster to look for them. I'm just plum disgusted. Ok, thanks for listening to me cry.

Hello,
None are blooming now for it is to cold here .... I still have some that have leaves and such but are not blooming... a few have inflos on them and I was told they will restart when spring comes... I am new to this... I only started looking after a trip to Hawaii this april... Never seen a plant for sale there but say tons of trees... Now I find out there were all over the place there... :-( I have mine from many places so far... I started buying in July I believe....
I only grow in pots and so will have to use a hand truck to get inside for when they get bigger you have to have bigger pots... These are in anywhere from 8 inch to 3 gallons so far.... I have some that I grew from seeds but that is not for me... Also in the last picture you will see allot of cuttings that are rooting or have rooted...
Yes they can grow in Va. We have wonderful weather for them ... they like full sun and a little water or you will kill them... In the full summer you do have to water allot more then in the latter fall ....
My hubby works for Good Year and they are on strike now so no more buying for me for awhile... I am very thankful for I do have allot already if never were able to get another I cant complain...
I do buy almost all of my rooted plants from a lady in Texas for she ships the plant in pots and wraped and they are just beautiful and not all just like a stick.. these allot of times are almost ready to bloom and depending on the size is 15.00 shipping for a plant you take out of box repot and you are good to go... my type of plant...LOL.... I am still trying to find the mother flower... I will keep looking....
Thanks for the nice replys...
Susan

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

Yes I found the momma flower.... LOL This is a virus that makes the flower do this... Some dont like to get these types.... Me I think this is wonderful...

Do you have a link to the lady in Texas?

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

She sell on ebay as Dee's plants... You also buy from her direct I believe for I can but maybe that is because she is a friend now... some plants are exensive other not... I can show you the diffrence between buying from her and for the same money someone else... just let me find the pictures and will also look to find if she has a real name in ebay... be back.
Susan

Central, LA(Zone 8b)

Tried to do a search on ebay by that name and nothing came up. Is there a link?

Danville, VA(Zone 7a)

She is not selling right now... If you want I can email you with her # she is very nice person... the first picture is of the plant I got from her and I did not replant for a week so that is why droopy leaves.. I paid I believe 45 plus 15 shipping ... Second one is of two plants together to show you the diffrence of how they come... few and I mean a few dollars more to me you get what you pay for...
Third is one of her plants in the back row and the ones in the front from diffrent sellers... To me you can not compair the two...
