Experiment for bugs in seeds, day 5

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Has anyone tried using an iodaphor solution for sanitizing seed rather than the chlorine based bleach solution? The iodaphor is used in sanitizing brewing and beverage equipment and is an iodine based material.Think I'll have to try it and see.Probably doesn't make any difference in the long run anyway.Just curious.

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Wow, Root! That's just gorgeous!!!

PS: I soak my seeds overnight in water, peel them, and then soak in a 10% bleach solution for 10 minutes prior to sowing them in RW.

well being so new to all this I did nothing fansy, I just put the seeds in a shallow container, with Perfect Mix potting soil from Wal-Mart, and within a month most had sprouted, I now have a lot of seedlings growing in my computer room with florecent lights, most are now placed in pots.

I love this new love in my life, THANK YOU KELL

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

I'm soaking in all this information about seeds. I have some 'soon to be beauties' from Kell and Shirley that I will sow in a month or so.

Root....what is THAT??? Those leaves look as big as ee's! And the flower is so pretty. How big is it?

Welcome Ingrid. So glad you joined us! We are a fun group here. And you came at a very exciting time when our very own Brugie just grew the first US double pink, Monika!

Bryson, QC(Zone 4a)

I want so very much to grow these-of any type. Is there anyone that has a seed or two-for trade or ....

It's horrible what I did last fall. I had a white Brug and it was 8ft tall and so very bushy with mega blooms on it. So, someone told me to get rid of it for it was very poisoness and it multiplies crazy and I'd apparently have such a hard time to eliminate them off my property. So, I sawed it down ,for the trunk was so thick and I got rid of it. You should of seen the pods on it -I could imagine how many I could of given away.

I've tried at some nurseries and they had none. So here I'am

If there is anyone could you e-mail me.
Thank-you, Ingrid
