Journal: setting a table heading for sorting?

Sorry, don't mean to be problematic. This one isn't necessary, but would be a nice convenience.... anyway, currently the journals default to sorting by common name. I realize that you can change this, but it doesn't "stick" -- when you go to do something, add or edit an entry for example, it is sorted by common name again when you get back to the main table. Is it possible to create an option where you can set your preference? (I really don't know most of my plants by their common names, and would prefer the table be sorted by genus....)

Or is this already an option & I've just missed figuring it out?
