I'm totally confused. When I upload photos from my digital camera, do I need to scan them on to the page or can I just use the file that they are stored in

Down load the pictures from your camera into your computer They will be in some format that is set by your camera maker. Mine are PDF files. To alter them to jpeg use your processing program and either save them as jpeg or if your camera has an export button you can use it. Just click on it and choose export or save as jpeg. Once the photo has been converted to jpeg you can upload it onto DG or almost any program that stores photos on line.
