Ok, folks...this is the house that we asked God to direct us to. :) He is so awesome.
There's a whole story behind how we know that God directed us to it - BUT something that is more related to Dave's Garden is that the owners have a stone in the front garden that reads, "Life began in a garden". That is the phrase I've had on my personal page here at DG since I became a member. :) For me, that phrase defines my love of gardening and my love of God. I haven't found that phrase on anything before, so it was neat to see it on the house we fell in love with.
New House
I am so green with envy I could just die!!
I only wish to have a house like that some day........to have any house really, that's even half that nice :)
That's really neat and strange about that sign
oh Carla, it's beautiful!! I love the cross story and the stone too! it was meant for you.
Oh, Carla, this is just wonderful. I can hardly wait to see more photos as you personalize this place to which you have been led. Your faith paid off again.
What a beautiful house, and it appears that the landscaping has been very well taken care of, although I know you will make it much better.
What's the backyard like? LOL I wanna see it all.
I'm really looking forward to the pictures as you continue to add onto this lovely landscaping.
I love it!!!! Congratulations!!!
P.S. Got Shade? Need some hostas back? I can always babysit them again if you move in a few years. :)
Hi Carla,
The house is beautiful and I am so glad you found one you really like. I saw you post a reply in one of the forums, and have been looking for a thread from you about finally reaching your destination and finding a place to live. Did you have a hard time deciding on which town to live in, because of all the tornados? When do you get to move in? Please give us an update on your situation, we are all curious.
Congratulations again,
Donna
It is a beatiful house, and a great way you came to be in it. good luck to you :)
We do not close on this house until 7/25. In the meantime, we're living out of suitcases in various hotels, with friends and family and on AF bases. It's a little nuts.
As for tornadoes, this particular neighborhood hasn't been hit in recent history, but that's no guarantee as tornadoes are a bit unpredictable. With God, we can get through anything, though.
Not a lot of landscaping in the backyard, so lots of opportunity there. Almost all sun, though, so will need to learn more about different plants.
Oh, just so you don't think life is just a lovely bed of thornless roses for us, I will say that 4 of us in one room challenges our patience. :)
Carla, congratulations! I know that being crammed together is no picnic, but isn't it a relief to know the end is in sight?
I don't know about this particular part of Oklahoma, but if it's like Tulsa, you'll probably have to learn to garden with constant breezes/winds, too - which is a whole 'nother ball game in addition to exploring the wonderful world of sun-loving plants.
Big hugs to you and your family!
I love your house, thought you said it didn't have much yard - looks like lots to me!!
I can sympathize Carla. We spent 2 weeks in the Holiday Inn and 2 weeks at a Days Inn with 2 kids and a dog. It was Jan 1977, the worst snowstorm in 100 yrs, school was closed for 5 days, like prison! I managed to slide back into a light pole in the motel parking lot and smashed in the door of the van, full of plants no less! Dh said he wished he'd left me in FL, I agreed! The man wouldn't get out of our house - we had to threaten to sue!
Better days are ahead for you, lots to look forward to.
What a fantastic home you have been lead to - congrats and happy gardening!
Congrats! I know you're relieved at finding just what you wanted/needed!
All is well, eh?
Carla I am so happy for you and your family. The house will be perfect for you - inside and out!! Gosh, it looks so neat and tidy!! You did good!!
Carla, I saw your house earlier but didn't have time to post. The house is gorgeous. Now, no matter what room I go into, it is a room full of seven! I know you can handle four. LOL Do we really want to count the dogs and cat????
Hi Carla, you have a beautiful new home! Congratulations! I can relate to living in the hotel, we had to do it before moving into our house 6 years ago. I'm sure you can't wait to start landscaping! Will be fun to see your progress.
Well, I can't see the house at the moment as pictures aren't loading but I just know it's beautiful and I can't wait to see it and I'm so very very happy for you! Hang in there kiddo...July will be here and gone before you know it!
Carla, that is wonderful news :) I cannot see your house yet either, but I look forward to it!!!!
When cooler weather rolls around for you, please post a wish-list for your new home? You know that we hosta recipients are just aching to help you re-landscape.
And if you want less full-sun, just ask me for a few young tree saplings next late-winter. I have some growing in containers that will need a good home in March.
The Lord certainly did arrive in advance of you, picked out your new home, and told the people living there how to show you it was yours! 'Love Grows in a Garden'.
Smilin..your new home is a beauty! Congrats!
I have a wooden angel holding a sign that says "Life Began in a garden"
beautiful new home Smilin'...congrats to you. God is good..all the time :-)
Smilin your new house is just beautiful.
Thanks so much for the kind words, folks. I just wish I had a place for all of my hostas.
Maybe build a trellis overhang in the back yard for shading. I've seen some lovely examples from when I was in New Mexico, very hot and dry.
How'd I miss this before? Carla, what a neat house! I love the story about the stone, too. You're closing on my birthday, so it'll be a happy day for you and for me both. Do you get immediate possession? I bet you can't wait to unpack and s t r e t c h out for good!
Smilin . . .
Keep "smilin" and a little grin or two! What a great house and you have a clean slate to appy all your gardening knowledge to.
Congrats!
