Obviously, I haven't had a single bloom. Have some big ears though and that is what I wanted. Thanks Doc.
Alo. Mac. Question.
Last year when I pulled mine out of the ground (just esculentas), I stood them in a box to dry out some but never got back to cut them back. In the spring when I went to get them, some were still green a good distance from the tuber. When I cut the biggest one back, I noticed a big round stalk in the center of the c shaped ones. Guess what? I hacked off a big flower stalk! boooo hooooo I am really impressed you are growing these from seed. My amazonica bloomed last year but no seeds.
I'm Bumping this for you Prudence.
John here are a couple of babies from my first try, your Xan is on right,it is begging for a Fla vacation, soon!
LOL!Did you see in the news a few weeks ago, where a guy fed Xed himself across country? If a big box shows up,don't plunge a knife in it!!
Reminds me of an old Lou Reed song,
Root, thanks for bringing this thread up. It seems that my seeds won't do anything - doh! - a complete waste of money. Nevermind. 'The Gift' - Velvet Underground - great track. Thanks again Root.
Sue
LOL!Sue,I could not remember the name of the song, your good!!Let me go look at what your seed are,I may have one.

Root, what is macrorrhiza - what does it look like. I'm very new at this.
Sue
It's the Big dog on the block,I have one I am going to cut up,I do not know if it will work, but that will cuttings I can share, the ones I have as plants right now are promised in trades at the Roundup, In Iowa.
Here is mine pushing 9 1/2 ft,I have never seen Odora and Rhizza side by side,I would like to.
(I guess I should not say big dog, cause I bet John is sitting on a Robusta, lol!)
I'll hit the PO today and see if they have the good boxes, our weather is getting nice,so shipping is OK,the nerve of the Nurseries, trying to make a killing!
Hang in there,we will find Robusta, and I bet we don't have to mortgage the house!
Doc, This Nursery is amazing but they cater to people that live in huge gated gulf front estates in the area... I'm always ignored and drag my purchase to front on my own ... I've pulled some good deals out of this place over the past couple of years ..60.00 sounds bad but they are specimen sized .
John,I just walked downstairs and Hollered, who wants to go to Florida, man it looked like a hurricane!all them leaves waving!!
Your baby is on the way!!!
I have my truck listed in the paper, and the phone is ringing off the hook,I am going to try to cut up an Alocasia today,so I can get some for Prudence and others going.
To cool ! I've got just the spot for it between two live oaks!
Wish I could help with the A.Mac's as I have tons.. But with the swap then a trip and all the plants I've promiced to people I've got a full plate until the end of June..
Soon as rainy season gets here and the EE's start to grow and pup will save you few new types NG Gold is NICE do you have that one yet?
I wish the box would have been bigger,I could not get myself in!
Do you have a pic of NG gold?I know I do not have it.
Root:
Here's a link to a photograph of NG. It's beautiful!

Dang it Delecie,Don't be putting up sites like that!!You know I am going to click on Home and look around!!!LOL!
Now my list just got longer!Love the A. Sarian!
I think the photo with the Arum Titan was faked,LOL!!No way he would stand that close!
and I can;t wait till Suberba comes down in price!Someday!
I haven't been there since last year when I bought Portei from her. I'm scared to death that credit card is going to find its way into my hand again.
LOL Root! I knew you would click on "HOME" but I was hoping you would resist the temptation. :) That site also made my wish list longer. We might as well admit the truth: when it comes to plants, especially the tropicals, we are hopeless! :)
John:
I don't have a green jade vine. I wanted the red one but last year at Fairchild's Tropical Flowering Tree and Plant Sale they wanted $75.00 for one on a trellis in a three gallon pot. After being told repeatedly that the price was not a typo, I decided to exit the vendors area as gracefully as possible. :)
Dang,I just sold my truck, now I gotta figure out how to block garden sites on this puter!!!LOL!
Root, that Big Dog's really fab. Will you really save me a bit? I have just soaked and sowed my Odora seeds - you never know. If I get a result, you can have one. I am very new at tropicals. I think the bug hit me over winter when I would browse through my gardening books and dream. Then decided to try and make the dream a reality. Sowed some banana seeds some while ago and not a sausage. I now have a love/hate relationship with them. I love to poke them and they retaliate by doing absolutely nothing. Still I can't bear to give them the boot just yet.
Sue
Sue,don't give up on your Banana seeds,I think I gave up last year, and tossed a couple, they came up on the compost pile.Did you score your banana seeds?
I'm sure I can end up with a spare ear in a month or two,I think instead of cutting on the one I have,I am going to get a window box and lay the whole thing on its side, that idea hit me today,so I will see how it works.do it like a logbrug.
The bananas have a stay of execution. Thanks for all your help root and fingers crossed on that big dog.
Sue
Shoot John,I sent your Xan with Papers!!the classified!
How much was Robusta going for?
Doc, The opening bid is 40 to 50 something ,an importer in Texas is asking 69.00 buy it now and one in Miami is asking 63.00 ..both have great feedback...
I've seen the size of them when they 1st come in and they are SMALL ... (like our A.Mac sprouts) I'm going to try to see the importer ,grower here and see how hers are comeing along .. I know some of them were sent to Agrastarts to be TC and I bet if we hold off will well see the price come way down this summer .... But you never know! I want one yesterday!
What about Borneo Giant?have you seen one?
See Delecie, you are getting me in trouble!!!
Doc , She has a huge one in her Garden , I'm confused on the whole thing .. It seems like the BG's that were being sold are not Robusta ,yet Robusta is called BG ?? Her BG babies were separate for the recently imported Robusta ... The one they have been calling BG looks like an A.Mac on steroids ,same leaf shape etc... But the photos of Robusta look much different then A.Mac... I'm going for a Robusta with papers !! lol
Yes, the whole borneo giant thing is really confusing, Brugmania has the right idea to get the paperwork. Just remember Robusta has purple stalks (petoles).
I've tried to simplify the differences here:
