Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Thanks tiG,I did not see that thread.

RD..my a. Macro has some of these pods now too. I have no data on planting the seeds..will check one of the aroid sites. I also have seeds forming on a flower I crossed. it's a.Wentii X a. Macro. should prove interesting.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Wow that will be nice, hope it works!!!

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

RD well I have a pod forming after I crossed them..keeping my fingers crossed!

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Great!I could not believe how this one swelled after I put the pollen to it.
Another ? for you, which of the Brugs is most heat tolerant?
I'm getting ready to plant my hot side.
also should I put the Plumeria in the ground?
Gosh I'm full of questions today.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

B frosty pink takes the heat and blooms in summer best so far. :-)
Plumerias should stay potted and sunk in the ground. At least in Zone 5 .Easier to bring in when winter comes.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Thanks on both questions Kyle!

Eclipse.. Please let us know anything you find out about starting the seeds : ) Not been lucky with them here...

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

I just got the news...seeds have to be fresh(still in the orange gel covering) planted covered in soil with moisture and bottom heat for about 3 weeks. So we shall see..I have some seeds to try before my hybrid seeds ripen. :-)

TY ..Eclipse,,, now I know why mine never sprout!

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

I guess the key is to sow them fresh off the stem..that makes sense as most aroids seed pods fall over when ripe depositing the seeds on the ground. :-)

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Thanks Kyle,I will drop these right in the ground, good luck on your cross, hope the pod produces for you!

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Oh, this is good to know. I have some dried up ones I will toss but last week as an experiment I took a pod full of gooey ones and put in my pile of mushroom compost. Will see what happens. Mine sure dry out fast, how about yours Brugmania?
tiG. think I will try and send you some while still gooey.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

cool!!! put in a baggie or something. can't hurt to try, thanks hon!

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Hmm, reread Eclipse's post and guess I will just let mine fall on the ground! Why mess with mother nature.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

LOL!! let me know if it works. I have so many nice ones this year, if I get flowers I'll be passing the pollen around.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

How do I get the pollen?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

well, how did you get seeds? do they self pollinate?? I just figured y'all were making cool crosses.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

I didn't do nothing Missy tiG. Mother nature did it all by herself to make those seeds.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

cool! I have been picking off the flowers on my caladiums and probably would have done the same thing on the EE's. good thing y'all are warmer than me, I can learn:) lol!

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Sent you an email....through DG. Oh, usurping this thread for a moment, I got a yellow barberry this weekend. Ever hear of one?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I think that's what I have outside my window. it's HUGE!!!!!!!!! 10x10 at least. but it's near the septic tank:) lol would love to see a picture!

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

ok, will take one tomorrow but mine is this baby. Why don't you post one of yours for me to see?

Weeds..for some dumb reason I pealed mine, after a few trys gave up on them ..it will be fun to try again! : )

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Mine has pollen falling off the blooms, not all seem to have it,when tey do it looks like a snow storm, just held a paper under it and shook it.have some in the Roots Alo pollen bank,LOL
Weeds I would like to see the pic also, feel free to put it up here if you want.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Ha..I will look at mine today, have been out of town and don't know what is going on out there.(maybe some hanky panky)
Brugmania, trial and error, that's what I do too.
I posted the yellow barberry in the identification forum.

It seems that everything I like require copious amounts of water, but you have to spend your money on something.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Gosh, how old does an ear have to be to produce a bloom? I'd enjoy trying to grow the seeds. You two are just too good.

Harrisville, MI(Zone 5b)

Sammy has a pod swelling, will send you some fresh ones if it produces!as far as age,I'm not sure on age,but I have seen more bloom this year then any I can remember.
