Wedding prep

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

We are in the last week before my DD gets married and it is hot here and so I am hoping it cools here so the roses and other flowers can recup a bit. I picked Europeana this morning and wrapped the ends in florist tape, sprayed them with Crowning Glory(an anti-browning preservative), and put them in the refrigerator to see how long they will look good. She wants to decorate her cake with these. We will use all kinds of garden flowers for the dinner tables.
We did order some florist roses and some peonies from a grower out here.I have so much planted but not a lot of bloom yet except roses. I have many nice containers of plants that are showing lots of color. I potted up several limerock ruby coreopsis es and there is some bud but no color. I am just praying it pops, I have a few lilies starting. So just pray with me that I can trust that everything will be just right. Timing is so critical here and it is just in His hands. Take care all, Joann aka lenjo

Joann, I cant believe it's that time already. You must be just so busy getting everything organized and ready. Wish I could come down to help you out. Good luck to you, and try not to wilt in this heat, it seems we are breaking records. We havent been this hot since 1948 - odd huh? and it is the first year in ages that it hasnt rained on the Rose Festival Parade. It was 75 degrees this morning at 8, we got to 98 yesterday afternoon.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Moving right along Lenjo, hope the heat breaks for you and comes out way. Tasha still has a few months before her big day, but it will be here before we know it. Imagine you feel the same way.
I am sure all will go smoothly and you will be able to sit back and enjoy and relax on the big day! Wishing you well,
Candee

Am praying for the wedding to go exactly as planned, or even better -- sometimes if one flower isn't ready or passes its prime, another turns out to be lovelier still. Enjoy this happy time.

Joann, let me know if you need help with anything.
and don't let yourself stress out too much! everything will fall into place and it will all be just fine!!

Joann, I've had you on my mind a lot recently as I knew the time was nearing for the BIG DAY! I'm so excited for all of you. The flowers will be fine, no matter what. Please, Please, Please, take lots of pictures for us. Hang in there, it will be a distant memory all too soon!

Well, here it is 15 hours later and the experimental roses look so good, the ones in the frig and the one on the counter look pretty darn fresh. And it was 95 * plus today. So I know the flowers for the cake will do just fine. I was kind of worrying about that one.We went to friends' daughter's wedding tonight and it was really uncomfortably warm but the wind is coming out of the west so cooler weather is coming. Thank goodness. We picked up DD's dress today and made our last trip into the city. Now hopefully we can do everything pretty local. Yes, I do hope I can get the digital camera from my DD's work to show pictures for you all. Bon Soir!!! Joann

Joann, how did everything go at your DD's wedding?

Mount Angel, OR(Zone 8a)

It was very pretty and really great, Katy was so pretty and the garden flowers used everywhere and in abundance was so sweet. I will have pictures soon. Thanks for asking. Joann
