denied the chat

I click on the chat box and when I get there, it says "Dave's Garden Chat," as always and there is a large, empty rectangle below it with a tiny icon in the upper left hand corner. I don't have flash on my computer - has the chat room changed in some way that would require that? Something about this Windows 98 program won't let me download the flash program.

Maybe it is a problem with the security settings in your browser; which browser do you use? The chat uses Java, so I don't think you need a flash player...

Kathleen, I had the same problem using Opera for my browser. I switched over to Netscape and had no problem.

I have internet explorer, and have never had a problem in all the time we've had chat until this week - I don't get it!

Ok, went to my Advanced properties and found under Java that Java consol enabled was NOT checked, Java login enabled was NOT checked and Java JIT compiler enabled was checked. Are the two that are NOT checked responcible for my absence in chat?

merkat123: Don't worry about it! All you need to do if you want to chat is type what you want to "say" in the bottom line, and then hit enter. Of course you can also just be there and watch; sometimes the chat moves to fast to keep up with:)
