Our local librarires are having money problems and since I check out half of the library every time I go I thought I would give something back. So I am donating most of my hanging basket plants and all of my decorated gourds to raffle off in hopes of raising some funds to help.
If anyone in the area would like to join me in helping please email me and let me know or just sign up here.
Helping our libraries.
That's a really nice gesture windsurffer!
Our wonderful libarary has a "Friends of the Libarary" society that helps them with their financial needs. They have a book sale once a month February - November. We donate books for them to sell, and buy a few along the way. And I support them by paying a few late fees now and then ;o)
Wind, our libraries in Virginia are having the same problems as yours due to state budget cuts. I think it is so admirable of you to take the initiative to just step up to the plate and do whatever you can to help. :o)
I just know I had to do something to help and since I spent all my monies on plants so why not donate plants and gourds.
Our children is so important and the book sales just doesn't bring in enough monies.
Please join me in helping your local libraries.
The library in our small town also has a "Friends of the Library" group who raise money from book sales and donations. The big fund raiser was collecting aluminum cans at a large bin at our local grocery supermarket. This went on for several years. People brought cans by the carload. They just completed a new library which is the pride of our community.

That's wonderful Etexbill, I am so glad to know that your library is doing well.
I still have to talk to the manager of the library as to what kind of sale we're going to have.
I am now cleaning out my back bedroom and will be donating a lot of stuff I have made and don't use. Things like quilt squares, ribbons, play station w/games, dried flower, and my sea shell flower wall hangings, etc. I still have a lot of boxes to go through before I know what all I will have to donate.
I, too, am a wonderful supporter of libraries. I check half of it out every week too :-). Down here they have Friends of the Library as well as book sales. I went to one branch last week and bought 31 dollars worth of books. I LOVE libraries!
I also buy a lot of books from the library and buy up every cook book they have for sale.
Our library also has a "friends of the library" organizations which I am a member of, and I always volunteer at the sales, and donate all the books I buy from the sale....I think that's funny, they go full circle.
I will miss my library very much, Ihave become best friends with my librarian who will buy some books for me during their annual book sale and send them to me...
Sind, this is a great thing you are doing for your library, your community will benefit by your hard work and dedication.
I am going to try and get some help from different nurseries here as well and maybe we can rase some big bucks.
