Roses in PDB

I was browsing the roses part of PDB.

When entering rose in the search box (or other words), it will say there are 4,5, or more pages of content, yet when going beyond the first page I get an error report of 400 - bad request. Just FYI.

And a comment: I had never delved into the hosta, daylily,
iris etc sections of plants database, but upon doing so yesterday, I began to wonder: why is there not a similar one for roses? I am just curious since there is such a huge variety of roses over the centuries.

Two different questions, Lav. The first one is a "Dave question" as it deals with some technical bugaboos in the PDB right now.

As to the roses database. Sigh. That one is on me. I have several files, most of which are nearly ready to be uploaded, with thousands of rose cultivars. When we get them uploaded, it will most likely result in a separate DB for them, a la Brugs, Beans, Daylilies, Hostas.

My only defense is I only have two hands and ten fingers. I should probably set up two computers, and teach myself to type with one hand on one keyboard, and the other on the other, and then I'd have time for all the things I need/want to do. With the recent strains on the PDB, I've hesitated to upload files, as it will increase the size of the data each search has to chug through.

But getting them finished and loaded is THE highest to-do on my list right now, other than keeping up with the daily editing of the site, so please don't lose hope, all you rose lovers!

(And since my response to this question may beg the question of the status on a succulents database, I've got a possible solution that will perhaps appease the cactophiles here, but I need to run it past Dave first :)

Well, If the Evolutionist theory of life has any merit Terry will be sporting a second set of arms with which to type soon!

I can see the writeup in scientific journals now. "As the human life form attemted to multitask more and more it became necessarry for them to have more than one set of hands. As a result they developed tenticle arms with which to perform their duties prior to becoming extinct from exhaustion"

Shoot, Zany - if sprouting an additional hand or hands were as easy as evolution reacting to environmental pressures, then all moms would sprout one during childbirth. And of course, it would be on a telescoping arm that can reach the child who believes they're safe from mom if they keep just out of arm's reach. And then there's the second set of eyes in the backs of our heads...

LOL Terry....we already have those eyes in the back of our heads! Just ask my kids...

But I just KNEW that Evolution stuff was nonsense...if it were true I'd be tall enough to sit in a chair and have my feet touch the floor and arms that could reach the stuff DH stashes on top of the refridgerator!
