Red Star MG, so pretty!

Orlando, FL(Zone 9b)

I have a question about the red star :)

When they were seedlings did you guys notice the stem was reddish and first real leaf was a little fuzzy. I have two seedlings, one is like I described and one is smaller and doesn't have a red stem or fuzzy leaves.

I hope I didn't mix up my seeds :)

I unfortunately did mix up my seeds and I'm growing a few that I didn't last year such as the double blue picotee and the red star one. I know one of them has very unusual leaves, much narrower and the stem is fuzzy too. Will have to wait until it blooms.........lol

I don't recall the fuzziness, but I also mixed mine with some sweet peas and red moonflowers. I do recall the maroon/red stem though. Maybe you got a "special" seed in your packet or maybe a dud? It will be fun to see how it grows and what you get from it, eh?

I think it was my double pink picotee blue that had the fuzziness

I checked this morning, the red star seedlings do have red stems and the first leaves are kind of fuzzy, but not soft furry fuzzy, they feel a little rough like whiskers

Thanks Carena! I can't wait for it to flower.
