Welcome back, Iris! I'm with Liz and GW, it's so nice to see you!

So glad to see you posting again. I was thinking of you the other day and was going to ask someone how you were doing.

So how's your pond doing after the winter? My Heron statue is fading pretty much now, so might have to give it a little paint job soon. The herons continued to visit me, even with my new friend, so I built a netted cover and my fish are surviving nicely now.

Ditto, I noticed the post and was so happy to see it. You just quietly rejoined us, did you think we wouldn't have to throw a party if you slipped in? Just look at the welcoming committee here! I move we haul out the goodies and celebrate.

Needed to take some time out for myself for a while, Plus , I've been so very busy trying to catch up with things here, As I let alot of thngs slip by last fall, But trying to get back with the swing of things at Daves!
Donna, I had a terrible time with the pond over the winter, I thought I could just leave the waterfall going and that all would be ok ...'Wrong'!
I never thought about the water freezing up where one pond flows into the other! It would end up draining the bottom pond! So a few times there, I had to take buckets and buckets and buckets out to fill the bottom pond back up, It just got to be too much , So I filled it one last time and and took the pump out, Each day I went out and tried to keep a hole open in the ice on top and bottom pond, But, It wasn't enough and I ended up losing all the fish and frogs in the bottom pond ( So heartbreaking and discouraging! ) The weird part is, The bottom pond sits low in the ground and the top pond of course sits higher, Yet the fish in the bottom pond died, While the fish in the top made it! ~ This winter, I'm not going to take any chances, I'm going to make sure no frogs are left in it and I'm going to take all the fish and snails inside for the winter and put them in a large aquarium that we picked up. Right now though, I have 9 fish, 3 snails, And 5 frogs ( The frogs arrived on there own this spring) All are doing great, And all the water plants are doing great! The water lillys already have there pads at the top and some are sending buds up, The water iris's are all budded, And the other marginals are doing great! Andall the plants around the pond are growing like weeds! The Purple allium's by the pond are in full bloom and there all doubles this year! So the pond life is doing pretty good! The other pond that I have in the backyard is doing well also, Not running the pump there tho because it's got a katrillion pollywogs in it!
How is your pond doing? Is it full of life also? Got my heron statue out there also, Mine too could use a bit of a paint job on the beak, But all in all , It's not to bad. I never get herons at my pond, Sorry to hear that you've lost fish to them.
I know that there are a lot of people who do.

We lost our fish this year, too, Iris - I feel your pain, girl! Had to unplug the pond pump while the basement waterproofing guys did their thing in the middle of January, and everything froze solid.

We lost fish and frogs in one of our lower ponds. Say gal.....called you and left messages on machine and with DH. Also emailed a few times. No answer. Does your reappearance on Dave's mean that you are going to email me a response to the ones I sent you? Lol!

GW, I had read somewhere about your 'Pond Misfortune', So sorry to hear that that happened to you, It's so sad and discouraging to lose everything like that! How is your pond doing now? Did you get some replacement fish and plants?
....Lotusblossom, Sorry to hear that you lost your fish and frogs also! So many, Many people have had that happen over this past winter, It was just such a bad winter! I hope your pond is doing well now and you have some new fish and frogs (?)
LotusBlossom, The "Honest To God Truth" is , I "Have" responded to your E-mail's and Don't understand why you have not gotten any? It seems some people are getting my E-Mails, And some aren't, And I can't figure out why! I've been a bit late at responding at times, But "I Do" respond. I did call you a couple of times, One time I left a message and another time I didn't, But, I 'Did' call.
I would not purposely ignore you, I hope you know that. I have been very busy at home trying despertly to catch up with things! I just don't think I'm gong to be able to do it anytime soon, So I'm slacking off somewhat and trying to get back into the swing of things with DG and such. I had my son's wedding to attend Saturday, Plant replacements and new Guinea fowl and set-up on Sunday, And plant trades today, So I'm just getting my DG pop -in time now ~ Late as usual.
Sorry, That you felt I was not responding, I really did try ~ I'll continue to try and hopefully the mail will go through, I don't understand why it didn't before, It left here fine and it wasn't returned, So I don't know what happened to them. ~ I've also written to other people and have gotten no response, So maybe they didn't get there E-Mail either.
I guess I'm going to have to take some time and figure out what the problem is. ~ Talk to you soon!!

Well, I put 6 feeder goldfish in the pond, and saw one a week ago, but none since. There's so much algae - yuck. I need to buy some water plants; I have a couple of water hyacinths, but they're not enough. With all the construction going on, the pond's kind of been forgotten the last three weeks - poor pond. :(

Hi, Iris! I don't know if this will help you to do a "diagnostic" on your e-mail, but I'll tell you what happens on my computer -- I have received your e-mails, but when I go to open them the HTML causes screen freezes, and the e-mails won't open. I wrote to let you know what was happening, and I don't think the e-mails got through.

I know that lots of us have had problems with our e-mail programs, things are getting too complicated on these computers -- and they call this the Communications Age, LOL!

Lotus-Blossom, I got your mail, I replied to it ( And wrote in it, That if you didn't write back in a short while, That I would phone you, I waited, You didn't write back, So I just tried to call you, But got yor answereing machine, I left a message again and want you to know that I am tryng, But I guess my E-Mails are just not going through, And I don't know what to do about it.

..GW, Glad to hear you got some more fish. I got 6 more feeder fish myself and sometimes they hide so good, I'm almost convinced that there gone!~ But then I get glimpses of them here and there. I'm sure your's are fine too, just hard to see right now. That algea can be a real pain! I have been scrubbng the sides and bottom of the pond's and letting it all go into the filter and then cleaning the filter good, It's been working pretty good so far, But, The pond will be a lot better when the plants fill in! I've got water lillies at the top pond which are doing quite well and the pads are doind a good job at blocking some sun. I don't have any floaters at the bottom pond ( which I need to get) I've got water Iris and sweet flag, And cats-tail and such, But, nothing to cover the top of the water, So it doesn't help all that much, I'm going to have to get some water hyacinths myself this week-end, I could have gotten some last week-end , But, I was too cheap to buy it from the place that we had went because they had gone up so much on them and the plants are so much smaller then what they use to sell them as, But if I don't find them somewhere else, Then I guess I'll just have to pay the price or keep scrubbing the algea out! At least you got some hyathis, Once they get going, They spread pretty quick, So you'll be having some nice pond coverage soon! I know how you feel about having to forget the pond for a bit with all the construction going on, It's really hard to keep up with things sometimes. ~ But, It will get better soon, You'll see!

...WhiteRose, I didn't get your E-Mail, And I didn't know that was happening on your computer, Geeze, I wonder what the heck is going on! Do you get to see any of the E-Mail at all when you get it?? This actually makes me feel good in a way because I have been writng to people and getting no response and was starting to really wonder if people were upset with me about something, But, I guess it's actually because the E-Mails were just not going through. Boy, Oh Boy, Oh Boy! What To Do about this now!!

I want everyone who reads this to know that if you sent me an e-mail and didn't get a reply, Either I never got the e-mail, Or the reply never made it back to you and I'll try to see what I can do to fix this now.

I sent a few emails too. I was worried when I didn't get a reply, but now I see why. I'm 110% certain that nobody here thinks you are ignoring them. I know some of us were worried about you when we didn't hear anything. Only 'cuz we wub u! :)

I have the same problem with emails not getting to me. My ISP put on a "junk mail filter", and now almost all my good mail goes in there and I get the real junk mail delivered to me. I have to remember to go in an check my junk mail filter every few days to get the good stuff out. Could it be possible that your ISP put something like that in place and you didn't get notified? I'm not sure why that would effect your outgoing emails though. Just a thought and something to check into.

Hi, Iris -- I think a problem with e-mail in general is that there are getting to be so many e-mail programs, Web-based and otherwise, with all kinds of settings (some of which filter out certain kinds of mail, even though the mail is legitimate), and people use different browsers -- it's all getting very complicated and out-of-hand!

Whenever I have tried to open your e-mails, they start to load and I see a line of text that says something to the effect that the program is trying to read HTML -- and then the whole thing crashes and the screen freezes. It seems to be too much for my computer to handle. Our ISP is the school where my DH works, and there has been so much abuse by students downloading porno that the school has imposed restrictions on downloading certain types of attachments -- I suspect that that might have a lot to do with the problem, rather than it being on your end; though it wouldn't explain why my e-mail didn't get through to you.

Well, at least we can wave and say "hey" in the threads, eh?

JoanJ, I don't believe I got those either, I sure hope nobody thinks I'm ignoring them, I truly would not purposely do that. ( I wub all you guys too!
) I keep getting these Very Annoying E-mails from someone who constanly uses a different web addy, I forwarded these e-mails to the web abuse site, They more or less said that who-ever is doing this is going through different sites such as google, Using there site addy as well as many others and constantly switching names! I don't really understand this at all, As I do not have a computer. But seeing how I have sent a few forwards to the 'Web Abuse site' And they have replied that they are trying to find the person responsible for doing this, It might have something to do with my E-mail problem. But I'm just not sure.
I'm really considering just switching my E-Mail addy alltogether and just giving it out to selected people for E-Mail response only, The weird part is, I don't really have a problem with getting or recieving e-mails from people other then the people from DG.

Hello Louisa! 'Always' working here! I do hope you mean yesterdays e-mail because I don't recall sending one this morning ( Unless I'm losing my marbles! LOL!) So glad to know that my E-mails make it safely back forth with you, They seem to be making to other people now to, ( Thank God!) I don't know what the problem was, But I'm hopng that it's fixed now and that it stays that way! You ought to post some pictures of your new additions, You've been so 'very busy'! Hi there Louisa! It's true you know, Busy, Busy, Busy!! Yet at times when I get on here, I end up adding more work for myself! ( Plant wise ) I still got a bit of that headacke, But, Nothing like it was yesterday! I think part of the problem with that is that I don't have a very good sleeping pattern. Today is Me and Franks 23rd anniversary, And 'Last Minute Charlie' (Me), Has still not picked up a gift for Hubby yet! I know what I want to get, But, Have to get out and get it before he leaves for work at 3:30! Got some more plants that I have to dig and drop off, Get to the post office, Get to the grain store, and on and on and on, So, Once again will be fluttering in and out of here.
I'm going to make sure I get back to you and Lotusbloosom when I get a chance though!! Will be a relief to talk to you both ( I won't feel so anti-social) LOL!
