Couldn't happen to a nicer lady.
Can I add my two cents here too, Happy 10th Anniversary!!!
Tahnks Aimee and Lenjo. The roses have opened up so nice and they are huge! I wish I could make them last forever.
The roses are beautiful and so is your DH! My mom and dad were married on my mom's birthday. She loved long stemmed yellow roses. Every year on their anniversary my dad gave my mom a dozen long stemmed yellow roses for her birthday....and a sympathy card for their anniversary. While sorting thru their things after they were both gone, I found the sympathy cards thet had been packaged in with the roses. She kept them all. Such a bittersweet memory.
Joan, why not try to root some, my MIL was fairly successful doing this, she would recut the stems by a node, I would then dip them in a rooting hormone, put them outside in a shady spot and put a gallon jar over them like mini greenhouse. For a little extra insurance incorporate some good sharp sand or pumice into the soil or even some potting soil to lighten your garden soil and then stick em in. Maybe a little extra prayer to some patron of gardening like Fiacre and voila hopefully a whole new bush.Just a thought. My sweet MIL has done this from roses we have given her.
Wow! I didn't realize you could do that. I might try it, but it would only survive in the house I'm afraid. I'm sure this type of rose wouldn't survive a zone 4 winter. But, in the house, with growlights, it would be interesting to see what it would do.
Thanks. I think I'll try it.
Oh i just saw this, HAPPY 10th ANNIVERSARY Joan, beautiful roses, and many more HAPPY ANNIVERSARY YEARS TO COME.
Me too Joan - missed your great day!! Happy Anniversary and when you root those roses let me know!! lol!! I see Iris posting too - welcome back braveheart!!
