I can try to root you a cutting of the George Burns for a cutting of that lovely Brug if you like :) I would give my right leg for one of those.........or maybe my left........hmmmmmmm.....not sure.......LOL
finally 11 blooms!
Go for it Kell, sounds good to me!
(((((((((drool, drool, drool, drool, drool))))))))))
btw. did you find out about the roses name?
LOL Tonny, Flowox is stating her case that it is George Burns......I am still on the wall, undecided!
Thanks Flowox but I really do not trade much. However, if I get enough to root I would be happy to send SASE. However in your zone where it gets hot in the summer, you may be better off getting another kind of Brug, Vulcanicola likes my cool temps here. It hates the heat. Other kinds would do much better for you.
I am not so sure that the rose is Geo. Burns either. I looked one(G. Burns Picture) up for Flowox the other day to help her ID one she had purchased and I don't believe this is the same rose. Close though. Very pretty and your rose pictures have been just great.
Kell, Loved your brug pictures. I only have CG in bloom, and no buds of either the new Pink Beauty or Shredded White, so have nothing to use for pollen. Donna
I'm great Kell! Head-aches are all gone now! :o))))
I've got an exam next week....as soon as I get that out of the way everything should get back to normal for me! (I hope)
Pollinated lots of stuff thismorning...hoping to get some good results this year!
Anyway...if you can spare me some pollen, i'll be really greatfull and will return the favour ASAP!
kell, how about some pollen then if you don't want to send cuttings? :)
So Flowox, you have other vulcanicolas or sangs or an arborea to use this pollen on?
I have one arborea but not quite sure right now which one........have to look :)
I have a sanguinea (did I spell that right?)
How long have you had them? Have they survived a full year in Ohio? Where abouts do you have them? In a GH? Have they flowered for you yet?
I did not say I did not want to send you a cutting, I said if enough rooted, I would be happy to. Though of all the rooted sangs I sent out last year, everyone died eventually for they did not like the weather. I just heard yesterday that the last one which was doing great, just up and died.
Are you talking about the orange sang pollen?
Oh......I forgot ........Tonny...........and Flowox....I found out the name of that rose......I went back and crawled around the base of it and dug a little and found the tag before I was shot.......it is a Climbing Fourth of July! LOL

I can just picture those people watching you rummaging around looking for a tag.......
And I'm waving my hand for some orange pollen...
My sang is sending out new buds, but it will be a while......
and yes ,its 2 years old.........
My brugs seem fine. I just got a couple from Poppysue but I bring mine in for the winter when it gets cold and put some by the sliding glass patio door and I have growing lights in the basement where I overwinter some. I hope I didn't offend you in some way, I just want to try to pollinate some brugs too and see if I can get some seed :(
LOL CC......... as I recall I sent you about 100 blooms worth a few months ago.........LOL
I have perfected my sending methods.....I send in wax paper, just pollen no anthers.
Oh no Flowox, no offense taken....... I was trying to ascertain if your sangs were worthy of the pink pollen or not. This is my first flush and who knows if I will get another....LOL. It is like gold. If your brugs that are compatible with this pollen have never bloomed I doubt I would even entertain the idea of sending any to you of either kind as your chances are not great to achieve bloom.......... but if you have had them for a full year and they have flowered I would send you some orange and see how you do and then maybe some pink the next flush if I have enough. I am only saying this for I think you will have trouble in the heat of the summer with them. A friend of mine even brought hers into the air conditioning and it still died.
I do not know how hard the true arborea is to grow in your hot summers. Anyone know if that one does much better than the sangs/vuls???
I would be happy to send you other pollen as your other brugs reach flowering size for you will have much better luck with them to get seeds. I will even throw in some easier to grow cuttings for your climate........LOL! And I have some seed if you want to try that right now.
Kell,
Nice photos!
Is the pink vulc the "vulcanica" from Kartuz?
That's the one I have, it hasn't bloomed yet though, just gets taller and taller!
Dennis
That would be very nice of you Kell. I'll try the others if you think these wouldn't make it and maybe if they do alright this summer we can try next year then :)
As it is right now I wonder if it's every going to get warm here. It was so cold today you had to wear a jacket...brrrrrrrr :(
Yes, Dennis, it is. And I also have the yellow one that keeps getting taller and taller. The leaves are more substantial and furry! No buds yet though.
Bruno, you will have mail.
Kell that's great news, can't wait until mine flowers (still). My yellow one is distorted, I don't know what is going on. When yours blooms please post a picture!
kell Im no rosarian but was that rose a shrub or more of a climber? Looked like fourth of July sorta kinna but maybe not? Just a thought. Nice rose shot by the way.
Well, you did pretty well Playndirt, it is the climber Fourth of July........I finally went back to the house and losing all sense of any decorum, got down in the dirt and dug around until I found the tag.........LOL...........I was dreading getting caught!
The colors on these are beautiful Kell!! I won't even begin grovelling for one as I am in 6b-normally land of the hot and humid and dry hard ground! LOL Looking out there lately, I am sure it is really November and only my wardrobe is confused. ;)
LOL.........glad you are not asking for a snip of it Badseed, or I would not only be a tresspasser but a thief......lOL.........it is sadly not mine!
Your weather sound so grim. Here it turned so hot the last day and plans to continue! Ick!
