No, this one is not sick, thank goodness. Though I did have mottling of the leaves in the winter.

It is the pink vulcanicola, sorry I did not type it. The blooms are small so when I take the pollen I will no doubt destroy the bloom........so sad.
I forgot to count the calyx slits like Tonny told me to do on my orange sang.
The buds as they swell are so pink. If only we could get one of the other brugs to be so pink.

LOL Roz, you told!!! Yes, I do take my camera everywhere and stop frequently. I have gotten so brazen I will go right up to house and click away. Sunday I stopped by this house and an older lady was walking by and as she approached me she put her head down and walked at an incredible pace and went around the corner. I walked up to this house and was clicking away and I hear this voice.............can I help you? It was the lady! I told her I just could not help myself her plants were so lovely. She then warmed up and told me they had had a shooting there the other night and the shooter had parked where I had. She said one look at me and she knew there was going to be trouble.........LOL!
She then went in and woke up her husband so he could give me a tour. They must have been in their late 80s. They were delightful and so happy I was only shooting with a camera.
I have a PowerShot s100. It is fantastic for what it has. It is smaller than a cigarette pack so it fits in my pocket. I am looking for a better one myself because this one does not have the optical zoom I want or the megapixels. But it is a no brains camera, just point and click. I wish they made it with a better optical zoom. I also drop it regularly and it is does not mind! Last night my cat came thru the bedroom screen at me when I was taking these pictures at misdnight and the camera went flying thru the air as I did , in surprise and panic.

I found this rose on one of my picture taking jaunts Saturday and now am desperate for one.

Beautiful picture indeed. Are you going to use the pollen on an B.arborea, B. flava, B.sanguinea, or another B.vulcanicola? I have heard that crossing to B.flava may make for a weaker plant so one may want to take that into consideration and select out for the strongest seedlings and say to heck with color with the first cross. Just an idea, but I would rather have a strong hybrid from which to work with that harbored beauty within than a beautiful hybrid that simply died or did not perform. In other words, I think crossing to B.flava would need much more patience and larger numbers of seedlings, but in the end I think that cross would pay off the most. I think Monika has a strong heat tolerant B.flava Mobisu (sp?) that may be suited to cross to this one.
Since I do not know what I am doing Eric, I am going to put the Pink V on the B. Arborea and vice versa, and then I am going to put the orange sang on the pink V ...... in fact I will be doing it in about 10 minutes! I have no idea what I will get from any of them. Monika's pollen is but an unattainable dream Eric!
Gloria, I do not think it comes in white............. LOL...........and or in frosty! LOL....I am safe for now.

I do not know......... at least for this first flush. Maybe. Let me see if I can get out the anthers without disturbing the stigma. It is a tight squeeze. LOL
Now I have plenty of orange sang pollen...I picked these last night for the pollen. A whole grocery bag full! But most of the blooms are hanging over the fence.....I may ask my neighbor if I can come over tonight. I cut this so far back it looks terrible but blooming its head off.
They are small lhuges...I will do a comparison shot later tonight if I can...it is my DH's bday so it is sushi sushi night.........LOL.....translates to saki saki night............. with that sushi sushi!

Lol Kell, I sure your crosses will be just wonderful indeed. I guess some of us have a must have need for seeing more phenotypes or mixing of Brug species. I still hold out hopes that we may one day see a Brug hybrid that has aurea, arborea, sanguinea, vulcanicola, versicolor, suaveolens, etc in its gene pool. Perhaps its just a fantasy, but our dear Monika did create a multihybrid at one stage in the game. Its just up to luck and a bit of dedication to get one that doesn't loose all its flowers and also sets seed. Strength and beauty will be rolled up in it somewhere I am sure. It just may need a bit of coaxing.

Ok here is the comparison shot..........LOL. It looks mini now!
The vulcanicola is 7 1/2 inches long with a span of 3 1/2 inches. The other one is 12 inches long with a span of 6 inches without the flipped up tendrils. Unfortunately, the vulcanicola is hanging an inch higher than the other.
I'm afraid to say it, but I like the BIG one!
LOL Gloria............. I do also! But the vulcanicolas and the sangs make so many blooms all over the plant. Their colors are so much more intense, but they are not girley girl blooms for sure! I am hoping an arborea mix will give it a bit more flounce and hang it off the branch like arborea hangs, but in vivid color......LOL!
