Yet aNOTHer suggestion

Could we pososibly have a list to search for paid members only?

My reasoning i this: I dont wish to EXCLUDE anyone, but sometimes I need to email someone who is already a member.

Unless I know the state where the person lives, it is necessary to search in the main database, and have you tried to download the whole list lately? (pre crash of 2003)?

It takes an extremely lonnnggggg time because it includes all the non-paying members.

I kmow that when I was already a "member" but an unpaid one, and ignorant of all the benefits of joining. I was just another name on the list, never looked in, researched the PDB or Garden Watchdog, or visited. Although a few times I tripped over the plants database when doing a search on the net.

The point being, that I would guess that very few non-paying members ever check for other members.

Therefore when one of us paying members tries to do a search, it takes forever to download the database because it is so huge. Then, the names, at least last time I checked, are in order of joining, rather than alphabetical order.

Since I have no earthly idea of when others have joined, I would never use a search like that.

I am pretty sure no one else would either. And the date it uses is when we first joined, not first joined as paid.

It might just be my quirky idea, but I do thing it has merit.

It would not need to replace the all members paid and non-paid list....just an additional way to sort by paid members (alphabetically).

Thanks for listening

While we're at it...,

Sort function by name, state, zip, subscriber, etc, would enhance this feature of the site (as no doubt you already know).

However, one can say with reasonable certainty that all hands on deck are currently occupied.

Personally, I'd put it in the work flow for 2004 ;~)

Lavanda, here's a suggestion for when you know the member name, but don't have a post from him or her handy to just click.

Bookmark your own DG member page and then when you need to quickly access another DG member's page, you need only bring up your page, and replace "lavanda" with the DG member's name in the URL

For example, if you wanted my page, you'd go to http://davesgarden.com/members/lavanda and change lavanda to gardenwife, making it

davesgarden.com - members - gardenwife

oops - I must be late on this my member page sorts by alphabet already Tracy

Also, the other day I added this feature to the memberlist. You can now limit your query to subscribers only.

Great new feature. Sure is a time saver. Thanks Dave. I don't know how you find the time to do all that you do. We sure do appreciate it though.
