what happened to the "search" facility ??

Rethymno, Crete, Greece(Zone 10b)

Don't tell me now I will lose all the rhubarb comments that we made all this time, Dave !!

I RELY on old thread remarks, especially those with variations on recipes (pebble takes the gold medal) or on duels re. ID of al ettuce or whatever (with poppysue and Baa and some others) and of course all the polite comments people made on ignorant remarks of others like me - I can't afford to lose Aotearoa's comments here and there, especially those on ear lobes !!!

What happened then ???

Dimitri (away but always near)

HA! I was wondering if anyone would notice that it was (temporarily) gone. Leave it to observive Dimitri. :)

Yes, I had taken it off because it was a drain on the old server. Now that we're back on the new box, I'll get the search back up (perhaps this afternoon).

what a relief !!

I think it was Churchill who said, those who do not remember the past, will have to live through it again...

the search facility is fundamental - for me to call on someone, I just write their username e.g. Baa in a thread post I am sending. For them to see if anyone asked for them, they only need to search their username - the faithful DG routine will bring up ALL threads it has been mentioned in their text - even the one where you asked what the time was, years ago.

Thus, I can very quickly find all the beautiful responses I took when I asked for muffuletta sandwiches...

And I'm actually developing an improved search engine (this one for subscribers only) that is VASTLY tremendously improved. It's actually quite nice.

Pssst - wanna beta test it? Go here: http://davesgarden.com/search/dave.php It is incredibly underpowered and not all the posts are in that table, but you can see its functionality. You can search like Google by searching on multiple words, phrases, etc. Try searching for something abstract like:

"how to create a new forum on Dave's Garden"
