... That some (very few) pics are getting thru on PDB ?
But the majority of us cannot even do anything?
(not whining, just curious)

How is it ....?
I am confused. I know the forum for pdb pics is up and people are viewing them and adding comments but I don't see any new additions. Where are you seeing that there are new additions?
Right, the PDB pics forum is up and running, so you can comment on an existing entry (from within DG) but you cannot add any new ones.
Us admins still have access to the PDB, of course, so in theory I, Vols, Baa, Trish, Poppysue, or another admin could add a picture, but it'd be no use since nobody has access to the PDB proper. Hey - good news! The new server is almost ready, (I'm working late tonight finishing it up) and tomorrow morning I'm shipping it "back home" to Tennessee for installation into the ISP. I fully expect to be back online in our original home by next Monday).
Dave
Now THAT is good news!
Yes and thank you. :) I'm about to box the server up for shipment - I just finished transferring all of DG over to it (well over 10 gigabytes in all)! Oofta.
dave
That's GREAT news, Dave - I know a lot of us are anxious to add comments and images again ;o)
For the record, the only thing I've done in the PDB is to release a few new genus and species terms each night, so the newsletter is a bit closer to "normal". I know Baa has been busy adding several new terms, too.
I never realized just how much I depend on the PDB until it is unavailable!! I have caught myself 5 or 10 times a day lately heading for the computer to look something up on it. Will be thrilled when it's back.
I agree Bonnie,it is the first forum I look at,just to see new plants.
I use it as a continual reference, and what with puter probs for so long and now the slowness here, I have been reading up and taking notes- caint wait to post some of it.
And terry, that reminds me, I have seen a copy of the newsletter in a few now.
And Dave, thanks once again, you have my permission to take a day off tomorrow and sleep in );8- ))
I also wanna thank you for the wonderful foto of salvia leucophyllum - I had been waitingt o catch one in bloom, but you did post an excellent one!
When you were at Wildseed you didint happen to ask about their conference room facilities didja?
Must get off now- loud thunderboomers are moving in and I need to make it to Arlington to a dr appt before I get mired in storms on I-20.

Great news Dave, now get some rest. You have done a spectacular job in such a short time and we are all greatful for your diligence in getting this family back up to its capabilities.
I too have missed PDB as folks are always wanting to look up plants here at work and the PDB is the place to go, it has it all.
Candee
Cool :) I've got several photos I've been itchin' to add to the database. It will be great to have that back again.
Good news Dave. I haven't wanted to bother you with anything, but just have to say that I'll be so glad when things are working well again. Thanks for letting us know.
Question...since you transfered the site as it existed today or whenever you did that, will the stuff posted after that not be on the new server?...or will you transfer an update after the server is up in it's home in TN? Just curious.
I transferred the entire site as it existed two nights ago. Then, I will transfer a final update to the server when it gets installed.
DG will be down for a little while during that update, unfortunately, to prevent two DGs existing at once(!)
dave
Tw DG's at once! LOL That is a scary thought...one is addicting enough!
amen sistah Zaney !!!
We might never eat again!
