Address list Exchange

Ok, you'll have to bear with me while I get things all organized on my end again. GW has sent me everything that she has so just need to go through some things on my end.

On another note. I thought I had made it clear from the very beginning that this list was for subscribers only. From what I hear, somewhere along the line someone may have gotten in that was not a subscriber and possibly made some others make the choice of getting off the list. I'm not sure if that happened before or after I was gone and that's not really important at this time. However, it will take me a bit longer because I will go through and double check the list to make sure that everyone on it is still a subscriber. If your subscription has expired (I may end up putting another column with the expiration date for my record keeping), then I will temporarily pull you off the list until you subscribe again. That will only make it fair in my eyes. If you disagree, let me know please. I want to make this list as safe as can be for everyone involved and don't want to loose any of it's members :o)

OH, and GW, thanks again for taking care of things while I was gone. I know it can become a pain at times........especially trying to remember to add or make changes :o)

Sounds good to me, Susan! I'm so grateful to you and GW for all of the hard work of maintaining, updating and posting this list -- it's an awesome task.

Go ahead and take me off the list. We're out of this house in less than 30 days. boo hoo

As a matter of fact, I thought about it when it was nine pm my time, but was afraid Jim was already asleep. Okay, I need some guidelines. After eight works best for me, because it's free. If you know I'm calling, you can get the puter off the line and grab the phone on the first ring, so no one will be disturbed. If you need me to do it during the day, though, I will. I wanted to send you a phone card to use for calling me, so I will apply that to daytime calls to you. Am I making any sense?

Don't worry about Jim, he doesn't get mad easily about anything. After 9 is fine here. I'm usually up until 11 or so unless I'm really exhausted. Jim's time varies anywhere from 8 until 12 am depending on how tired he is from working that day. Just send me a quick e-mail or something if I'm online and I'll get off the computer :o)

Just to warn you that there are some major changes to the list being made at this time as I am only on the J's and have already taken off 6 people who are non subscribers and 1 who is not even a member..........not even unsubscribed member (I have no idea how this person even got on the list). It's going to take me a bit longer since I'm only on the J's as of now but please be advised that you should take precautions, update your list with the new one when you get it and not share with anyone outside the people on the list.

I have to be strict here for the safety of all involved and if I find that someone's address was given to a nonsubscriber of this list by a subscriber of this list, then I will have to take you off the list. If it happens more than once than I have no choice but to put an end to the list to keep all others safe. This was supposed to have been a great thing for us to share and not something that everyone should have to worry about for security.

Please keep this going in good faith as there are many of us who really benefit from this list as we all love to surprise each other once in awhile.

I have added subscription date and zone to the list so I can keep checking for expiration dates as those who choose not to extend their subscription will be taken off the list so they will not get any of the new addresses that may be added later by new members.

If you have any questions regarding the change or anything that I said, please feel free to send me an e-mail. I apologize for all the confusion and everything that has been going on while I have been gone. I feel totally responsible as I was not around to let GW know what was a go and a no go as far as the list is concerned.

it's taking me a bit longer than expected to get the list updated so please bear with me as I have to go through the member list here on Dave's to make sure everyone is subscribed and it's loading pretty slow.

Also, please be aware that I will go back to the original way that I had done the list and that is to send 1 spreadsheet copy for those of you that have Excel and 1 notepad copy for those others of you since I have gotten a couple of people who have mentioned that they have old computers and do not have word and therefore had been unable to open the list. So if you are new since I had left and come back, this will be a slight change for you, for the old members this will be the same as it used to be. If you have another preferred method, please let me know. I have to physically transfer each person into the notepad file so that's not really quick either but don't fret, there should be an update hopefully within a week if I can get enough time to sit here and get it all done. Once it is fixed on my end, then all the changes and new updates will be done quickly and sent out within a day or two from receiving them :)

Susan, I only know enough about computers to sound as if I know something about computers! I don't have Word. I use a Mac iBook. I don't know what that entails, or how it differs in how you would send the files.

well, GW sent them as a spreadsheet file and as a word file. I had always sent it as a spreadsheet file and a regular txt file for those who do not have word and will continue to do so. How were you able to open the file from GW?

Hi, Susan - You don't have to copy each name and address individually for the Notepad file...Just merge the data into a form in Word and save-as text. I sent them in Word format, text format and in an Excel spreadsheet, I believe. Bonnie was albe to open hers in the text format.

I can't for the life of me get the darn thing to merge :(

Maybe you can come by and I can show you how I did it? It might be easier than trying to tell you over the phone. LMK. :)

if you were on the list when GW did it, then you'll still be on the list. I just have to go through and sort through all the names because there are quite a lot of names who are not subscribed and I need to take them off. But I won't know who they are unless I go through the entire list and compare it to the list that Dave has here. If you were on the list, then you're fine. If not, then I'll need you to send me your info :)

Flowox - if you don't already know to do this, go to your DG member page, then replace "flowox" with the member's name you want to see. It saves a lot of time when looking folks up.

well Duh.........I should have known that. Don't you like how we very often oversee the simple way of doing things........LOL
