The men with the straight jackets.....

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

will be here any day now to cart me away. There have been times when my kids have walked away from me pretending that they don't know me. LOL that having been said,I had the BEST time the other day! We have a wooden table outside the livingroom window with potted geraniums on it. The carpenter bees LOVE it and have bored many holes. Well I deceided to hose it down. As I was doing it I got to wondering if the holes were connected. Really doesn't take much to amuse me. I put the hose full blast over one hole..splush..the hole next to it eurupted like a geyser!! Such fun..at least for me,not the bees. I flushed out several as well as larve which were quickly squashed. Now bee lovers, please don't be angry at me..they were carpenter bees not honey bees and they are eating the facia on the house as well as our wooden fence. They have rather large appetites. At least they were dispatched without nasty bug spray.

Ginger, I love it!
Sounds like you still have the little girl active inside you. Good for you!

Ginger I would have loved to see that.

Oklahoma City, OK(Zone 7a)

Ginger, what a delight to read this post. I appreciate your sense of humor.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Ginger good for you!!! sounds like you amused yourself in the best way....sounds fun actually, wish I could have been there to help you out

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

Hilarious! I wish I had thought of this when they (carpenter bees and hornets) invaded the knot-holes of one of my trees a couple years ago! I would love to see the tree shooting water (and bees!) out of all the bore-holes.

On second thought, better to leave the hornets alone...

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

This reminds me of my own simple pleasures. I have a lot of rocks with holes in them, and the more I dig, the more I unearth. I can't resist cleaning out the various holes and recesses, finding which ones connect and which ones produce live critters. I have stood with a hose running water into holes in a rock for over an hour, finally taking a long, thin brush to satisfy my curiosity. I am so happy to know I won't be alone in my padded cell.

Do you suppose we could persuade the caretakers to let us get a DG logo on our jackets? I do hate plain unadorned clothes when they could be so personalized.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

FOFLMBO with Aimee thinking of doing this to the rocks. I did it one time to a knothole in a barn and all I got was stung by the bees that had their honeycomb in there between two walls. :( That hasn't slowed me down on my curiosity though.

We will need some of Aimee's beautiful tassles on our straight-jackets. LOL

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh, yes! In fact, I think I could work up a design with some ideas I picked up in New Orleans, using beads and sequins and feathers with some jangly medallions. Since Granddarling liked the fringed lampshades and day bed covering in one location, I would like to use lavish amounts of fringe so she will approve enough to visit me in my new abode. Is there any chance we might be allowed to wear vintage hats with the jackets? I have a nice collection.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Aimee, just ask that guard over there about your hats. I think some of them are just devine. And I really LOVE the fringes and beads. My name in sequins would be a nice touch just like on that old TV show Laverne and Shirley. You just get the head guard to allow us to dress in our finery and we will be just magnificent!

Ginger, are you coming along with us to the looney farm? Aimee has a fine outfit for you to wear I am sure.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

I thought I was the only one.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Well Mary, I KNEW you were there already so I didn't invite you along. You are the old pro at this aren't you?

Aimee would you please fix a nice outfit for MaryE? She is a good friend and a neighbor of mine. I think she would look splendid in that turquoise blue velvet of yours. With silver tassels of course.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Oooh, silver and turquoise, yes. And a riding crop for looks only, braided turquoise velvet rope with silver to hold it by. We can spray those boots of hers with some shoe paint, a nice turquoise for the shank and the rest a lacy pattern of silver and turquoise and a toe cap of silver filigree. What, Mary, you want spurs, too? Do I detect an evil gleam in your eye?

Okay, time to bribe, I mean offer the guard some fudge.

It might take a little more time to sew on all those sequins, could you be happy with your monogram?

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Ok Aimee, I am here with the fudge you ordered. Yummy too with those good macadamia nuts in it. And I also made some with Marashino cherries in it. That stuff is yummy too.

I guess I could settle for just a monogram but I would be happier to be Lani instead of L. L just sounds too stuffy to me. I could go for a metallic puff paint if you don't want to sew on the sequins. But if I don't get sequins I don't want anybody else to get them either. That just wouldn't be right. One of us with a monogram and the others with their whole name. ;)

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Okay, have it your way! Lani in sequins. I thought I had to do Ponditis.

I work faster with fudge, a bit of each. Hey, this cyberfudge is low on carbs, right? Flowox has me all in a dither about my carb consumption, and I don't like guilt trips.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Aimee and any others who want to indulge, the fudge is very low on carbs if you want or high in carbs if you want it to be. Your choice is my command. Besides nuts and fruit are supposed to be good for you and macadamia nuts and marashino cherries are fruit and nuts any way you look at them.

Flowox, don't hastle Dear Aimee about her carb consumpion. I don't want her on any more trips unless they are to come see me and a guilt trip is NOT what I have in mind.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

I will eat as much fudge as Flowox eats. If she's going to lose all that weight, and already has a head start, I'm not going to let her outdo me. Well, I don't weigh as much, because I'm undertall, so she will outdo me as far as quantity, but my pride won't let me lose in the percentage category. So, pass some of that fudge, low carb variety, to Flowox, and then I will play monkey see-monkey do.

Now back to that bit of fashion. I might have to make a visit to be sure I get it right, Lani. Do people in straight jackets have to be accompanied when they fly?

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

I think that you could fly free because your hands are really tied right now. LOLOLOL

Woodburn, OR(Zone 8a)

Just think of the other benefits, when you have a looney bin roundup, no one would have to travel farther than a few padded rooms! you could trade meds for seeds!

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

LOL ya'll...been trying to get back to the garden, but the power co. has been out almost everyday trying to find a power leak that zaps the neighbors when they get out of their pool. Not a happy dilema...I am tired of resetting all the clocks each time the power goes off!! Definately ready for the looney bin and fudge. :-)))

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Ginger, that is a really bad situation. I hope they find the problem soon. What a drag, having to wait for the next pool shoe to drop.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Ginger_H, I know what I would NOT be doing in your neighborhood if I lived around there. I would NOT be swimming near live electricity like that. That could cause a lifetime glow in my skin! Maybe you should look around for some more carpenter bee holes to entertain yourself once they get the power under control again.

I guess I better get some fudge made for your emergency rations. You too, Aimee.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Ginger_H, I thought I should wish you a very Happy Birthday to you! Another reason for fudge. Not that you need a reason for chocolate! :>)

Fountain, FL(Zone 8a)

Thanks for the birthday wish,Ponditis. We saw our neighbor at the mall..power co. added a ground to their pool, but still had not located the source of the problem. Remind me not to dig in the rain..very strange. I've hit the bees a few times more as well as spraying the wood..they're still boreing like crazy!! LOL

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

LOL It sounds like you have a really fun neighborhood, what with the power company putting in grounds for the swimming pools, bees being flushed out of the wood AND you getting your name in the paper for being electrocuted for digging in the rain. LOL

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Yeah, Pond, a really fun town. Uh-uh! I just don't have the proper sense of adventure, I guess.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Well Aimee maybe you need some more fudge? It would rev your engines again.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Aw, Pond, how shocking! I'm not sure I want to rev them up enough to dig around in that charged atmosphere. Now, as for fudge, no excuse needed, I might need it just because I'm here and alive, and my taste buds demand it. Bring on the low carb dark chocolate!

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Here you go Aimee. Low carb dark chocolate fudge made especially for you. I hope your charged atmosphere isn't emotionally charged also because that would be a REAL shock.

Georgetown, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, this is a stunning chocolate! And my atmosphere is in need of a recharge, but the one where the neighbors are getting shocked in the pool, without even getting risqué, sounds a little risky. I dug around a bit as a treat to myself for Mother's Day, didn't get a big charge out of it but it was mildly energizing.

Lincoln City, OR(Zone 9a)

Aimee, you are our energizer bunny. The harder you work the more electric your personality becomes. Now you take it easy in your garden and don't overdo because with all that charged atmosphere around your house, you will soon be very recharged so you can join us in another stimulating adventure.
