We had some nasty storms come through last night. The wind knocked some branches down from a neighbor's tree and it destroyed a bunch of my plants. My wisteria, oak leaf hydrangea, daylilies, hanging baskets and hostas are all squished like bugs. Actually, the wisteria was stripped of most of its leaves. I imagine it will come back though. Just looks awful. The oak leaf hydrangea was snapped in half. I dug it up in Northern AL and brought it back here and nursed it for a year, then whammo.
Tell me I'm not the only one to deal with garden disappointments.
I need company in my misery.
Too bummed
Oh, Carla - ouch. I'm soooooo sorry!!!! No, you're not the only one who's suffered setbacks in the garden, but I'm not fully convinced that misery really DOES love company :( I'm here for you if you need a shoulder to cry on!!!!
Carla,
What a shame. The storm just missed us last night (Ms. Gulf Coast) went just north of us. But 2 weeks ago we had one it us,
we lost 5 large oaks. Thank Heavens that was all we lost.
If I can send some plants to make you feel better please let me know.

I have been there-what color daylilies did you lose?
(((( Carla )))) We all have lost or had destroyed beloved plants, and I know your loss.
Alas, most of mine have been as the result of careless workers. Roofers dropping huge pieces of shingle atop my beds, delivery people trampling my mini roses, painters stomping all over my beds, killing a lot of newly emerged seedlings.
If I can send you anything to help make you feel better, Please, please, just ask :)
The hostas you sent me are all very happily ensconced in their new beds, I will very happily send you some of my very special ones to cheer up your damaged ones. Or anything else that I have!!!
But hostas are very tough -- they will come back! So will the daylilies! And I will certainly pray that the special oakleaf hydrangea will survive and thrive.
I am crying with you kid!!!!!!
PASS THOSE PUFF'S PLEASE!!!!!!

Awww that is so sad to mess up your garden that way! Most of those plants will be back very quickly though as they are tougher than we give them credit for. I will share plants from my garden for you if you need any.
Hugs, Lani
Just in time for a new garden? After all you have sent to others, I suspect you will be buried in offers. If there is anything in central Texas you need, just let me know. I surely owe you a truck load.
Add me to your list of people who want to help. You've traded with me and I would be glad to help.
Like all the other posts, I've been in your shoes. But this was before the days of computers and garden help. What a difference!
You people are too much. I just wanted to whine... I didn't expect you all to mail your gardens to me. :)
Like Lani and Aimee said, they'll probably come back just fine.
