Rain dancing

Bolton, Greater Manc, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

Do any of you in the US know any good rain dancers for us parched soles in the UK? No real rain for weeks and weeks and none on the horizon. This week is going to get even warmer! :(( It is planting time here and the thought of planting 600 poppies with inadequate water and heavy night frosts is giving me a serious headache!!

Psilo, I wish I could send you some, things are so soggy around here. Joann

Normally Joann during March and April, it never stops raining in the UK. This year, parts of the UK havent even had any snow and we have had virtually no rain since the beginning of February. Since writing this thread it has turned very humid here. We might have a thunder storm!! It may not be much though and the warmer weather is back tomorrow for the foreseeable future. Unheard of for the UK.

I can handle it for ya, psilo. I used to drum on 55 gallon metal barrels, just for fun and entertainment and to watch the chickens dance around the barnyard. Then the neighbors across the way complained about it...they said I was causing their garden to get washed out, so I quit. A few years later, during the drought of '87, I came home from work one day and lo and behold, there sitting at the end of my driveway were two 55 gallon barrels, obviously placed there by neighbors begging me to get busy!

I'll watch the wind flow, send up a kite, aim the barrels in your direction and get started on it for ya. Lemme know when to let up tho!

Shoe, you're a hoot. Did you get a few strange looks from passersby?

Psilo, wish I could help you out but we are supposed to see -16ºC tonight. No rain here. Wish you all the best.

Horseshoe you are smashing fella!!! LOL

go on and bang those drums for me as long as you like. I reckon 3 days of heavy rain might just about do it! :D tell your neighbours that the UK needs you !

many thanks.

But please don't beat rain drums for all of us!

Last year spring was much drier than this for those of us on the south central coast line and having spent a large portion of time under the sky and not a ceiling, I've never known weather be the same for 2 years running.

Meant to add, we had rain and thunder yesterday, last week was cold and rainy, hence my unwillingness to share in the rain bounty *G*

Psilo,

We awoke to some rain this morning finally!!! You know that saying...It never rains in Sunny California..

We are also below normal for our rainfall and my water bill sure shows it. When we do get rain, the TV news has a saying..."Storm Watch". hehe It usually only rains for 1 day and then moves on out of here.

My DH is not happy about the rain this morning, as it's his golf day and he's been waiting all week to play.

Baa I cant remember the last time I saw wet pavements. I went to Asda the other day and they were spray cleaning the trolley shelters and I thought wow water on the ground!! LOL (what a sad guy I am!!) In the NW it has been very warm for weeks. They keep saying we will have rain but all we get is the odd spot! :(
My allotment has such hugh cracks in it it looks like the Nevada desert!

So cal it must be extra hard to garden in sunny California. I take it you must have a water metre? here we arelucky enough not to have water metres (though some people in the UK do have to have them) we just pay a flat rate and that way I know where I am.

Poor DH> I also have a friend who gets very grumpy indeed if he cant get his 'fix' of golf! :)

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

One of the guards where I work does a great rain dance! He demonstrated it on Friday and this morning is the first time the sun has been out since! The other guards would love to have him dance somewhere else...anywhere else!

My wife's uncle Ove who lives in Berlin is a pretty interesting and exotic personality who does water dowsing and all sorts of other esoteric practices. If you think he might be able to help you, we'd be glad to put you in touch. He speaks elegant English.

;~)

Naw, he's a well educated German fellow (my wife's uncle), with a lovely poetic speaking style and an esoteric frame of mind.

Adam.
