My apologies to folks- I did not mean to hop in and out; wanted to engage, but even with the simple instructions, my inability to learn and follow directions was my downfall in chatting. I will stick to the forums, glad that I learned a bit about e-mail type stuff before I became ill.

I have heard that Thursday morning chat is much less busy: it gives people a chance to take things easy. Check that one out if possible.

If you go up to where it says font size and choose 15 or 17, it will make the text bigger, which in turn slows it down a little. You won't see as much on the screen at a time, but it might be easier to follow.

Oh my, it's been so long since I have been able to get to chat. It happens so early here. Starts at 5:00 and I'm just getting off work, then the commute home, supper, and all, then the chat room is closed, (but I know you all are still there!) :) . Now it's doubly hard since I'm going to aerobics at least 3 times a week after work because I'm determined to be able to wear shorts this summer and not be self concious about it. Ugg! I miss you all though.

*sniff sniff* I miss you too Joan! Can you sign into chat earlier, that way leave the door open to sneak in later after your evening routine has calmed down? Chat stays open as long as anyone is still in there...

That's not possible either Kathy, since chat starts when I leave work, then if I go to aerobics, I don't get home in time to sign in, and I don't go home first.

Sigh....someday my life will resemble something that looks somewhat normal. Right now I can't plan anything, because it will be changed.

Hmmmm, we need to write some sort of macro that will open the DG chat URL and have it waiting for ya....Aerobics, those are a form of (shudder) torture, I mean exercise, right? ;)

LOL Kimberley, yes they are a form of excercise, and some days it is torture, depending on who's teaching it. It's an hour of pretty intense cardiovascular workout, minus 10 minutes warm up and 10 minutes cool-down/toning. It's getting easier now that I've been going for about a month, but it's still a major workout. I can see the difference though, and I can feel the difference in my clothes. I've dropped 2 sizes in jeans. That's a good thing. The scale doesn't show much of a change though, but they told me it's because I'm building muscle and losing fat, but since muscle weighs more than fat, the scale doesn't measure the change.

A macro to log me in until I get home. What a wonderful idea! Now if only it was do-able. :)

Not such a good idea, maybe. Let me think on this a bit. :)

Those kinds of macros DO exist, but mostly they are used by hackers to write virus code :(

Joan, can one of your kids or your DH log you on while you are finishing your evening chores or at aerobics so you can have a open door that way? I would do my absolute best to stay awake if I knew you were coming on a little later :)

That's an idea Kathy, if I could only find a way to make them remember! LOL! I'll ask them if they'll do it.

Well, DH said he would do it if he was home. But, since he's a law enforcement officer, his hours are pretty unknown. But, I'm gonna learn him how to sign me on, and hopefully soon I'll be able to chat. So if you see me sign in, but don't say anything, you'll know that it's just him signing me in and I'll be along a little later. We'll see how well this works.

Oh, I just had a thought. If he signs me in, does that eliminate the possibility of someone else getting in? Am I taking up a space that I shouldn't be and taking it away from someone else? How many people can be signed into chat at once? Is there a limit?

Oh, so many questions, but I don't want to take away the opportunity for someone else to chat because I have a connection open and not using it yet.

Joan, as far as I know, there is no limit to the numbers who can be signed on. And when your DH signs you on, ask him to stick around and watch a few seconds, we will be saying 'Hi!' to him (or to you, actually :)

The only possible drawback is if your ISP might disconnect you if you are idle for more than a given amount of time. If it does happen, oh well, at least you tried! And maybe your DH or children can just go ping it every 10-15 minutes?

Hi Marcia. Meet another inept, unable chat-roomer! My DD, GW, is a whiz at the old desktop, but even with advice, I can't "chat" fast enoush to get in the flow.

Is there a regular schedule for chat?

Carena, there are regularly scheduled chats on Tuesday evenings from 7-10 PM EDT, and Thursday mornings from 7-10 AM EDT. :)
