The bad luck keeps following me around. Just when I got the mantis and was ready to get all the new brugs, the coop plants and the plants from the roundup in the ground I fall at work off of a platform and break my arm in two places. I had so many great plans that will have to be revamped now. One of my sons just moved back from memphis a couple of weeks ago he says he will help me. Sorry I haven't been posting lately. I have to go to a surgeon on Thurs. to see what has to be done. Jim
ouch
That is a shame! To start spring and have this happen! I hope you mend well. Try and rest.

Gosh Jim, this is bad news. I hope your son will come and help you get things done. Also hope that you don't have to go through a bunch of surgery. Get well as quickly as you can.
Oh yuck, Ga! What a mess now that things are budding and starting to grow. Hope the arm heals real good and you don't have any problems.

Talk about timing. Sorry to hear about your arm. Hope you will be on the mend soon.
Too bad Jim - will be thinking of you.
O Jim, now here I was thinking that " I " had all the bad luck! Soo sorry to hear about this, please keep us updated so we can help to wish you well.
Get better sooooooon buddy! I hate to see a good man down!
Jim is a big guy. If anyone can do it one handed, it's him. I just pray you don't need surgery Jim, let your son do it anyway. That's what kids are for.

Jim, wanted me to post thanks everyone for your concern. He went to a specialist in Columbus today. He will have to go back Friday to have two screws put in his arm before they can put a cast on his arm. Bobbie
wow, he really really broke it!! poor Jim. at least it's raining and he couldn't have done anything anyway. I hope he can go on disability for a bit.
Thanks Bobbie for letting us know!
Bobbie, please give my greetings and my best wishes to Jim.
I do know how he will feel right now. Have had such years ago.
In some weeks he will need a gummy ball for training his fingers and his arm. It will work...
Here's hopeing everything get's back to normal for you in a few weeks!
Take care!
Thanks everyone. I'm pecking away one handed on the keyboard here. I just got in from the surgery on my arm and the Doctor only had to use one screw in my arm instead of two as he originally thought. I am planning on taking a couple of weeks off and maybe I'll get some of the plants in the ground. I don't know how much I will be able to do.
Sure is nice to have this extended family and the well wishes of everyone. Thanks again. Jim
Jim I am sorry to hear about your arm. I hope its not to painful. I am sure you will find away to plant even one handed. Heck nothing can keep you down long. Hang in there.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery Jim! Take it easy.
Jim, so sorry about your arm breakage, and glad only one pin. Sure hope it heals soon. I know how frustrating it is to see all those things that you want to do and can't. I had both hip joints replaced first time 1992 1993, then my body rejected the glue used to hold the spike in place. Both joints had to be replaced, one just when I was moving to this new place, the next the next year 1996. They had to put very long spikes in my femur, about 10 or mor inches. I had to be very careful for a year after each replacement, to give my leg time to grow around the spike. I am now able to do all but the hardest digging. I do practically all the planting. My worker fellow digs the deepest holes. I lost 2 of my bet and oldest bonsai trees because while on crutches I couldn't carry anything and had to depent on someone else to do the watering. They were both more than 50 years old and I had had them for 25 years. Do take care and try not to do more than you should. Donna
Donna, you sound like you have had a really rough time with the hips. I've had both of mine done and seem to be getting along with them okay. I'm doing all the things I used to do but find it harder to carry more weight, like the big bags of soil. I sure hope everything goes well for you from now on. Those crutches are a pain, aren't they?
Jim, everything will work out, I'm sure. Just glad you didn't have to have two pins. Hope you son works to suit you. Mine would throw down the shovel and leave because I would be telling him every move to make and he wouldn't take it from me. I can just hear him saying "if you want these planted, just get out of here and let me plant them".
Jim, sounds like you are already planning to overdue. The yard is beckoning to you.........but try to be strong and not succumb!
Donna, I am so sorry to hear that you lost your 2 oldest and best bonsai. I know they are like babies the way one must care for them and you get so attached. I had read where lots of people had trouble with certain hip replacements, that one kind everyone had to have redone and there were big lawsuits. I can't remember the particulars. What misery to have to do it twice. May I ask how you got your name of rutholive? I keep wanting to call you Ruth, my Mom's name.
Jim, I just saw this. I hop eyou have a speedy recovery. What rotten luck! really - really - rotten luck.
I just saw this thread and just wanted to say that I hope you get better soon and that your arm heals fine. Sure stinks to have this happen at this time of the year. You take care of yourself!!!
Jim, I am so sorry to hear of your misfortune. That sounds very painful. I hope that you have a speedy recovoery. I know what a bummer it is to have to deal with something like this, especially this time of the year. I had surgery on my foot in January, right when I am usually sowing most of my seeds. Needless to say, I won't have near as many annuals in my garden this year. I send my very best wishes that this heals swifty for you . You have helped me out with seed and cuttings answers so many time .
Bless your heart! Don't try to do too much though. Healing first is the most important thing.
Jim, I do hope everything is going better for you now. Take care and try not to overdo. I have been using my electric Mantis the past few days. It works so well, and I can start it with no problem!!!
Kell, RuthOlive was my mothers name. I just picked it when asked for DG name, not realizing that so many of you used your imagination and have such interesting names. My name is Donna Faye. Donna
