I was in the chatroom with Trish last night and realized I had never ordered a cookbook. I asked her if she still had any and she said, "16." So I put my order in right away via the internet. For those of you who are new to DG, the cookbook has recipes from different DG members and was quite a labor of love on the part of Dave, Trish, grannylois, and the contributors and is really worth having.
Dave, you might want to consider having the cookbook reprinted if there is enough interest.....maybe a poll would tell you.
Last of the DG cookbooks
If there is enough interest to justify both the labor and the cost, why not a new DG cookbook?
Adam.
Actually, that crossed my mind. Some of us submitted a lot of recipes and had to edit it down to 4. It was a lot of work, though, but maybe one day......

I am so glad you mentioned this because when my house burned down I lost my DG cookbook in the fire!!!! My DG mug was saved because it was in the dishwasher!!! (yea)
I just went to the DG Store and ordered another!!!!!
THANK'S for the reminder!!!!
sue
so glad to be of service! LOL. I am so sorry about the house, I knew someone had a house burn but didn't realize it was you ruby. I hope you had plenty of insurance. What is your situation now?
There will not be another cookbook.
Trish
I ordered two and was going to order more, felt like I was being greedy and decided to wait. Ordered one more as a gift, and I think I stopped there. I had thought my kids would want one, to see Mama published, but they informed me they all knew how to make those things I submitted, few of them cook much and it wouldn't serve a purpose for them to have one when they will eventually have mine. So I set aside one for Granddarling, since she obviously won't see my old standbys on the table often. Why do I feel this urge to order another one before the last one is shipped?
Aimee: Don't forget they are buy one get one free, so if you bought one, you will get two. If you buy another, you'll get 4.
Honestly, the cookbook was a disaster on our part. We barely covered our costs ($1,500 total) and the time that Trish put into it just wasn't worth it. She worked every night for probably two months getting the book prepared for the printers. Further, the worry about covering our costs was quite stressful. We definitely won't be doing it again.
Having said this, however, if anyone else wants to do it, that might be do-able.
Dave
I thought that was the situation, Dave and Trish, and bless you for doing it. A reprint wouldn't be nearly so much trouble or expense though, so if there is a demand, would you consider that?
Okay, I can't resist. Watch for Aimée to lose her head again. Dave, please save me four. On my way downstairs to get the credit card. Maybe someday they will be collectors' items, since they are indeed first edition and limited edition and all like that.
WOodspirt1, we moved back in 3 week's ago and thing's are going o.k.! As for the insurance, don't get me started!!!! DH and I were just getting ready to buy the house when we had the fire. I have lived here for 9 year's and on paper (only) it was still in my mom's name and now that she is in a nursing home we were buying it! I guess I dragged my feet a little too long because the insurance people would not pay out because our name was not the one on the policy!!!! So it was a TOTAL loss!!!!! The worst part is we were down to $60,000 ($650 a month) on the mortgage and because of no insurance our mortgage is now $1200.00 a month!!!!!!! I think I will be dead by the time we pay of this 30 year mortgage!!!!
Now aren't you sorry you asked???? I guess I just needed to vent!!!!!! (sorry)
sue
Sorry to be so dumb, but how do I order a cookbook?

I don't know which I like more, my book or my shirt, but I know I use my mug the most. Every morning!
I hope PayPal did what I told them to. Dave, did you get my payment?
Aimee,
No, I didn't get anything from you. You better check your payment history at paypal.
Are you going through the store system?
Dave
Dave, Please reserve two books for me. I am sending a check for one book this morning.
Update: DH just got back from the post office where he mailed the check.

PayPal indicated they paid Dave's Garden on April 2. Shall I get a transaction number for you?
Checked again, for better facts:
ID# 7AB47391VY477071
Order ID 6871
4/02/2003 time 19:00:09
Status: completed
I hope this makes it simpler for you to track it down.
Geez, I'm almost out of contact with the world, with snail mail that is always iffy, e-mail that is equally not dependable and now PayPal failing me.

Dave, you have mail. Or at least "contact us" has mail.

Nah Aimee, we aren't going to let you be out of contact with us completely. We will just come out there to Texas and hunt you down.
Hehe, Elena, bring your gloves and tools. I should hide so you will be lured into my gardens, and think of the mischief we could find! Good to know you won't let me float away on one of these dry clouds hovering over me, with their false promises of rain. 14 tiny drops on the window, that's it. Bring your garden hoses, too.
I think I will wait 'till all your wildflowers go to seed and then I will fill my pockets full of them. 14 drops??? Now who would have the patience to count rain drops? Why, Aimee of course. Did any other areas get a few drops or did that cloud only have 14 drops. Maybe it was the Johnny Ray cloud that sat right down and cried. (Song!!!)
Aimee,
I was confused because the name on your order was "Hip Hix", but it was a Georgetown, TX address. Didn't you get the emails? I shipped your order yesterday.
Dave
I got my new one's today!!!!!! Wow and 2 for the price of one, what a bargin!!!!!!
sue
Dave, sorry about that, I should have thought of it. My PayPal account is in that name. As for emails, no, nothing came about the order, but no problem. I am by now accustomed to undelivered mail, as my ISP seems to have many problems, as did the last three ISPs I used. I will watch for the books, they should arrive here about Monday, if they haven't already. Need to drive back and check the box!
Thanks! Now I have plenty, and you couldn't possibly have many left.
Elena, it was a rough estimate, but probably pretty close. Yes, I think that was my own private cloud. I do remember Johnny singing that song, often ripping off his shirt and shedding what appeared to be real tears. That was in the early days of television for our town. Poor Johnny, it appeared his heart was broken.
I'm still waiting for mine, anxiously, I might add........
Mission accomplished, and the post office did its best to destroy the package. One corner was torn almost completely off, but there was no damage to the books.
It really is such an attractive book, I like just looking at it. The recipe for zucchini bread is enough for me to have wanted it, and I look forward to testing it this summer.
are there any books left
Yes!
Thanks for posting this. I've been putting off getting one of these and finally put in an order today as I don't want to miss out :-)
Thanks!
Theresa
I got mine and I love it! This is a much better cookbook than a lot of those put together by clubs and churches. One of my recipes was called "Nancy Willis' Spanish Round Steak." Well, since I got 2 books, I am giving one to Nancy as soon as she gets back into town. I called and told her and she was thrilled.
I got my two extra ones and am giving them to my daughters. I have already given my younger daughter hers for her birthday and she just loves it. Since she got to meet a lot of DGers at our Crossville Roundup last year it is special to her.
