seed storage containers

Dear fellow DG members,
I am trying to figure out a way to efficiently store my seed packets. I would like some suggestions on how I could "file" them. Thanks in advance for your help.

I've just started using a photo filing box I got at Target. I don't know how good it'll be yet but you can use index cards to seperate the seed packets.

i use all my old general foods international coffees tins to store my seeds in-i try to keep them alphabetically on the shelf-but mid spring they are a MESS!

When I first started, I used those photo boxes too. Then I moved up to the Rubbermaid type under the bed boxes. Next was a four drawer wood chest. Since then I have given away, planted and tossed lots of seeds. Now I use priority boxes as drawers stacked inside big Rubbermaid buckets. The seeds themselves are in paper envelopes, inside ziplock bags.

Most of the time (I'm a bit slack sometimes ya know) mine are safely stored in individual envelopes (or freezer bags for larger sized seeds and/or large quantities), and then put inside quart and gallon-sized apothecary jars. Inside each jar is an enventory list of what is in there, as well as one in the computer. I guess it would be easier to label the jars by number tho...and on the puter inventory reference that number next to each type of seed.

Forgot to mention that all my seeds/jars are stored in a big fridge down in the shoffice.

Hi, I have my seeds stored in a tin box, kind of a big seize shoebox. The seeds are alphabetical stored under their botanical names in separate big envelopes in it. Large groups of different species get their own envelope. I keep this box under in the fridge. I can easy find the seeds I want. Just have to take out the wright envelope. On my computer I keep a list of what I have or what's out.
