I must say, I'm glad he doesn't visit my library!

A Dutch man says he may move to Germany if he is convicted of disturbing the peace with his smelly feet.

The man prefers to walk around without his shoes on but provoked complaints in a university library.

Teunis Teun refused to put his shoes back on or stop visiting the library at Delft University and was charged with disturbing the peace.

The 40-year-old caused further upset when he took his shoes off in court at The Hague.

Mr Teun made an official complaint when the judge ordered him to put his shoes back on.

His complaint was over-ruled by a panel of three judges and he now believes he will lose his case.

He told Algemeen Dagblad journalist Marc Kruyswijk that he wasn't aware that his feet smelt.

"They feel wet, even when I put on dry socks. The only way to keep them dry is to air them.

"When this trial is over I will seriously think of leaving for Germany. There they don't mind a man walking about in his socks."

Mr Kruyswijk reported that he had to hold his nose during the interview and compared the smell to a bag of rotten potatoes that had been kept in a cupboard for two weeks.

He sounds like a really good candidate for these: http://davesgarden.com/t/374339/ (He'd want to buy the deodorizing ones)

Yuck! It sounds like this guy needs some odor eaters and should never wear closed in shoes! Or some soap and water! And clean socks ....but I am not sure Germany is going to want him either! I don't think their national anthem is "Send me your people with stinky feet"!

lol zanymuse....

He's going to be convicted of an offensive body odour? (whoohoo maybe I can have revenge on my brothers at last)

Is that in European law? (it might be in breach of EU human rights laws although I don't know a sub section of peoples rights to not wear shoes in public or indeed peoples right to not have to smell other peoples unclad feet)

Fancy being convicted of producing strange smells! What are they going to do, make him have feet transplants? Enforce shoe wearing by padlocking them on?

We had a chap in a nearby town who is in the middle of a court case for not wearing clothes while shopping last summer. It seems no-one actually complained so he shouldn't really be tried for it?
