Tooth and nail ....

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Fight tooth and nail.... Here are teeth and nails. The one short and wide one is a nail of a bear. The other smaller white one on the top is of a tiger. The two bigger ones are tiger's teeth. They have been with us for as long as I can remember. It is said to have been kept at home for 'medicinal purposes' and a bear's nail is said to be of superstitious importance. Not too sure what exactly that is. The bigger ones on the sides are as long as my middle finger.

It is interesting these superstitions. I always wondered where they started. Like the one of having a "lucky" rabbits foot. If it were truly lucky it would still be on the rabbit!

The bear's claw (seen in the centre) is used as a talisman and worn round the neck.

You certainly do have a lot of interesting collections Dinu.

Those are BIG! I have badger's claws in my pool of treasures. They're fairly impressive - but these are something else Dinu!
