Shipping suggestions......please?

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

Can anyone give me some suggestions...I need to get a cream seperator shipped to me. My friend, Ruth in SD found me a sweet deal on one. The problem: it is a whopping 140 lbs!!! UPS has a limit to what it can ship. Does anyone have any ideas where I can even start to look on how to get this thing to me? Perhaps a DG chain from SD to South Louisiana? LOL! (Just kidding)Seriously, any suggestions would be helpful and greatly appreciated. I would like to get it here in time for our Farmers Market opening which is in late April so I can make different cheeses. Thanks in advance.

I can't believe that UPS doesn't ship 140 lbs. hope you find the best deal!

An LTL carrier? I think we have used Reddaway in the past, and also southeastern does LTL, try them, their phone no. 800/272-7335
otherwise, the bus sounds like a good idea. they take packages too

Might want to check with some of your trucking Freight companies in your area. There are some companies that transport freight from one state to another. You might want to check this company out as there is one in the New Orleans area.

thanks for the suggestions! snowhermit, thank you so much for bringing it to my attention. I will check into all of the above mentioned.

Coco, I would love to take a trip to SD. But, what a shame, I can't. I'd love to meet Ruth.

On my postal rates/scale it shows Fed Ex will ship that much weight. And the rate is cheaper by sending it "ground", so don't think they only offer "Express-two day" only.

shoe, any idea what that cost would be the rates?

Gosh Lisa, UPS is going to be hugely expensive for residential delivery across the country. 2 pounds from here to TX is more than $7, even to a business it's about $4. Add that it is (for UPS and FedEx) way over the normal weight limit you'd probably do better to check into freight carriers. Size can also make a big difference! I can calculate a price in a minute or so if I have both starting and destination zipcodes along with the weight and dimensions.

Might want to check this out Lisa; it may help

Lisa, do a Google search on Cheap Freight, you will be surprised.

Lisa...I'd need weight, origin and destination zip code.

I also use freight trucks from time to time (like Roadway, TransCon, etc) and if you make arrangements to pick it up at the terminal it may be a bit cheaper.

Email me the above info and I'll run it thru the system.
