It seems like he hasn't posted for quite a long time. I am concerned.
Is Jianhua missing?
He posted a while back that he was going to be teaching in Southeast China. He did post that he got there safely and he would be back on the school computer soon. That is to the best of my memory.
The last that I see that he posted on was a thread that he started in Sept. But he added a posting to it Dec 14th. http://davesgarden.com/t/362702/
He's posted since then.It was after Chinese New Year. They start a new school year at new year in China,so he has a brand new term to start, and in a place that is unfamiliar with him also.
I'd say he was keeping busy, but I did think about him the other day and wonder if he was having trouble with access to the computer at school. They might frown on using it for personal stuff.
Last week I was thinking about him too, I hope he is doing well at his new job.
Thanks for the responses, ladies. I hope he's fine and not working too hard.
Hello dear gardening friends,

I know you are busy but we need to know what made you leave your birth city to teach in the south of China? Also it will be nice for you to tell us what kind of plants are in your new region.
Jianhua, I mailed something last month to the old address, will you get it?
I have his address, at his new school. If anyone wants it let me know I can send it snail mail, or I am going to get my scanner fixed soon....that way. He could use some cheering up. Let me know.

I sent you an envelope too, about a month or so ago. I do hope you get it. So nice to hear from you, you have been missed here. Looking forward to hear more from you.
Hello dear gardening friends,
First of all, thanks so much for all of you
who thinks about me all the time.
everything goes on fairly well with me --
only i have to kick off leather shoes and change
into slippers as soon as i return to my dorm,
because it is summer-hothere
(the school is in the city of Chaozhou,Guangdong province).
really tropic climate--quite different from the climate of my hometown.
This semester,i teach high school.besides the normal english courses,i also mentor two students Chinese in English from abroad:one is from Italy and one is from Hongkong. And also i teach 20-periods' gardening course.Wonderful!there is no need for me to bring any textbook to class.i can make the class lively and interesting(this makes the principal think that my class is noisy).Suring the class, students arise many kinds of strange questions on gardening.for example:are there any flowers which can eat human beings? what is the biggest flower on the earth?what kinds of flowers are poinsonous?
why fig can bear fruits without flowering?why the banian tree has air roots? what kinds of flowers bloom in winter? ...
on weekend my students and i will go climing the hills arounfd the school to identify the wild plants.here i find there is a kind of wild vine rose which blooms white flowers in spring.so lovely the flowers dislay a mass effect.and on the hillside we even dig out some wild lilies --the students are so excited to get some garlic bulbs.and they have planted them in the pots.also are some other wild palnts:red berry, mimosa, honeysuck, clover ...
Well,so much for now.see you later.
oh, jianhuah, i've missed you so much!!! i was wondering why i haven't seen you since i've been back, and suddenly saw your name because you are posting now!!! Did you get my package??? i wonder if i sent it after you moved??? how are you? i think you told me my family was in southeast china...are you near my family? is your family with you? oh, i hope you got my gifts...i was actually wondering if you got into any trouble from my gifts or if they confiscated any of it??? i'm sooo happy to hear you were okay, cuz i was beginning to think you went back to the place you learned to make coins at...you know...
sorry, mavie...i guess he left? maybe not..stay awake for a few more minutes, and maybe we'll find him. peter just told me i got a tube in the mail from you today!!! i'm going downstairs real quick to see what you sent me!!!! jianhua...are you still with us?????
Hi i am back
Now answer some of your questions.
tiG,ya are some kind.yeah,my wife has made a telephone, saying she has received the envelope.
WantabeGardener, glad you have gotten my envelope .
but now i have removed from Fuzhou to Chaozhou.the two school belong to the same management.the principal appoints me to the new school to strengthen the english langauage teaching(spoken english).my new address is as follow:
Mr Zhang Jianhua
521000
Fuli School
Chaozhou Drive North
Chaozhou,Guangdong
C H I N A
This english address is okay if someone wants to send me regular mails.(when the envelope reaches China, the address can be translated into chinese by the chief post office staff.)
At present my son and my wife is in my homwtown.each month i will put in the bank enough money by credit card for their daily consume.i have to wait till summer holiday to return home to meet them.see, life is not easy.):though i am in a big colorful world now,i can find myself.
see you!

i have not sent u anything lately. if it was in a tube, it was from last dec. 02.
hi Jianhua, good to know u are ok. pls be careful of that disease spreading.
Meiyu,
Yes,i was very near to your cousins' place Fuqing(i was in Fuzhou).to tell you the truth, some of my students are from the city of Fuqing.i once asked them about the place.but there is no result. Now the principal assigns me to teach high school in the city of Chaozhou, guangdong province.so there is no way to help you to find your relatives.
So far i have not get word from my wife, telling me the arrival of the envelope.
jianhua, my cousin's work at time magazine is closed and she is very bored, being unable to work in hong kong. i heard something of students in china being infected,...forgot all about sars until ma vie mentioned it, as i was so excited to hear from you... everything is okay where you are at?
mavie, guess what? it is the tube i sent you! the bromeliad! don't ask me what happened.l..i sent it priority through one of those mail box places cuz i was in a rush and couldn't make it to the post office (tax time). it came to me instead, regular mail! geez, it'll probably be dead by the time it reaches you now! i will take it to the po tomorrow.
MaVieRose,
Yes,i am okay.
Sase maily spreads around the capital city Guangzhou.the city which i am staying is far away.and what's more, our government is taking active and effective steps to precaution and control the disease.so don't worry about it.
Thanks for your kindness.
Jian... life must be a struggle for u these days, with ur family being so far away. how far are u from ur family? do u go home and commute during weekends? the maternal instinct in my wonders if u are now force to cook for urself? sort of being nosey at the same time LOL!
so glad to hear u are far away from where the trouble spots are. it is better to stay safe than sorry... so to speak.
am sort of settled in the new place and exploring my gardening around here. last month Meiyu came to visit briefly.
do take care of urself. i know how it is to be far from family.
So far as I know, there is no recording or report about the cases in my newly arrived region.in spite of that, the school will have the precaution:all the corners od the schools have sprayed some kind of liquid and all the students and teaching staff have drunk mixed herbial anti-virus medicine from time to time.so now the principle at school is in good order.there is no havic here.
Meiyu, what did u do? address the package back to urself LOL!!!! hehehehe....
do not worry those bromiliads are tough than u think they would be. try to place a damp paper towel in the spout of the plant, and down on the root area too and they will be fine.
Jian good to know, where u are, u guys are taking all the precausions.take good care!!!
i am so glad to hear this. naturally, with the spread of such news, and my cousin's email from hong kong, i have been worried about my friends and family in china. i am glad you are well, and the threat is not of concern in your area! i made a necklace from the dg coin; a leather choker. i will take a picture and post it for you.
How far is it from my homwtown?
you can have a figure-out;it will take me four whole days' time by train. i have to do that thing by myself? school has bufet dinning halls.what i need is just to bring a set of bowls and a pair of chopsticks or a spoon.only i have to do some clothing washing by myself, though some lady teachers would like to help me.i need not any help from them.):
the south gives me a good impression in charming scenery .here there are many kinds of fresh tropic fruits available on the markets, such as pipa, oliver, pineapple, banana.i can have a good taste of them. by anyway, after all,it is not my home.i miss my family.
well, boy,i have to be leaving now.see you next time!
Remember i am your friends forever.

wow, this is weird...just missed the whole post from you earlier, jianhua! sent the package to your family like two months ago...gosh, i hope you got it!!! i sent basketball cards to your son...the wonderful spurs, no less, even david robinson navy card!! oh, i hope he got it!!
ma vie, it is not me who screwed up, but the post office, i swear...when you get this tube, you will see!
WOW!!! that far??? must really be some cross county distance between those two places. i can not even fathom how far that would be from where i am to go across the states. hmmmm.
it is really difficult to be far away from home. btw... what ever happened to ur blueberry farm venture? whose tending ur farm now? betw. ur son, ur wife and parents, they must be so busy since u are far away from home.
anyway, look at the brighter side, all the adventures u are now experiencing. and ur new teaching job must be fun for u too. gardening and english class WOW!!! best of both worlds. and u say u are going to take ur students to some plant exploration. that will be super fun, specially seeing those wild plants that has never been explored before. good luck Jian on the new adventure of ur life :)!!!
good night/morning all. will talk again sometime. it has been fun.
more power to u Jian... i wish i could share that plant exploration excursion with u and ur students.
hahaha...some lady teachers would like to help you out, eh? you stud, you!!! am glad to hear you will not take their help...i should think your wife would love to boast about this story!!! hahaha!!
please let me know about your package! i will be very upset if you didn't get it...i sent you a book about japanese gardens, and paid you for the green oil. that's why i thought maybe they might take your package, and maybe you could get into trouble for me sending you american money? i don't know how else to reimburse you, though.
good luck to you, and i will send you something special to your new address!
Hello Jianhua
good to see you here again. I hope all will be well with you and your family. I'm sure your wife misses you while you are gone. Take care of yourself
Jiahua I miss you in chat with mitjo and evert and I! :)
I know you must miss your family very much it must be very hard without them.
I bet your classed are FUN my friend! I can see the kids having fun learning-that makes learning so much easier!
Please be very careful -dont get sick!
It sounds like you are very very busy. Summer is just a thought here right now as spring is trying very hard to shake off winter and bloom with LIFE.
I am wishing you all the happiness and luck there in your new Job and home.
Keep in touch! miss you
dori
Jianhua, it is so very nice to hear from you again! I was wanting to know your new address so I can send you something. Now I can send it and hope you get it.
I am very sure that you miss your family and they miss you terribly also. I have been wondering why you are teaching in the south of China instead of near to home?
A wild duck has a nest on the edge of my pond this spring and I thought of you as I know in China there are lots of ducks and duck farmers. We are leaving her alone and soon she will hatch those babies and leave us for the swamp that is nearby. Some of the tulips are done blooming but the late tulips are really beautiful now. I have planted the seeds that you sent to me and I have been wondering what seeds I could send to you?
Take care of yourself. I wish you great joy in your life and health and a long life.
Happy Gardening and teaching, Lani
Jianhua,
Long time no see!!! I have been wondering about you. Glad to have your new address, so look for mail from me.
Ruth
