Editing

I can't quite figure out what it is that I am doing wrong on my reply's to anyone ,most of the time I get an edit after it has been posted, what should I be doing different.I'm very new to all of this but I surely do not want to offend anyone, thanks

Hi Littlehawk,
Whenever anyone posts, it will have the word "edit" in their own reply. This word edit is seen only by the "replier". If you made a mistake or want to retract something, click on edit and you can update your reply. Hope this helps.

Hey LittleHawk,I'm a little confussed,(nothing new for me)Are you saying after you post a reply to someone elses post,You see "Edit",Do you feel that this means you need to Edit our post?It only is giving you the option to Edit your post, that is why if you look at a thread you have posted to,it says Edit under your name only,it is that way for everyone, only you can edit your post.(you and the big Kahunnas that is).
I will drop you a line later today.

Thanks Ron and Thanks to you also Bob,I think that I understand it now,I am the only one that see's the little blue edit in the block on the left side of the post that has my name and the date ,time, zone, etc.right? and that does not mean that there is something wrong with my post it is giving me an a chance to change something if I want to. Thanks everyone now I don't feel so bad.Look on Butterflies and Hummers and I have 3 posts on there, are there any edits that you can see?

MERCER, PA(Zone 5a)

You got it Littlehawk ! Only you can see it and most important, only you can change (edit) it! No one can change what you said but you.
I saw one of your replies and it was just fine. Now you can relax and truly enjoy DG. :O)

The edit feature is a nice perk that Dave gave the members a long time ago - if you spot a typo in your post you can fix it; if you realize you meant to state something differently, or need to add more information, you can do that too. :)

Go_vols, I'd like to add that it's always good manners to explain why you edited, such as, "Edited to correct spelling" or "Edited to add links". Otherwise, editing can be interpreted as something taken away rather than enhanced. Did I say that right?

Weezingreens, you mean ya want me to advertise everytime that my edits were caused by senility? LOL

Seward, AK(Zone 3b)

Yes, that's what I mean. Even 'Senior Moment' would be nice. Of course, it's a matter of opinion or maybe just preference, but as soon as something is gone, everyone wants to know what it was.
