New Logo

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Made up this Logo for our Garden Center this afternoon. What does everyone think ? Would like honest opinions. The Welsh Heritage Farms part is the people who own the site. We run the "store" April, May, June, & July, with our plants & vegetables. They raise apples and take over in August until Christmas time. Then it is closed till April. Both of us have merchandise in the store the whole time. They have been there for 25 years, so their name is recognized.

I think it is lovely!

I like the general design... clean, but I think the G & C are different fonts, aren't they?

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

I like it.

I like the idea and layout, but the lines are kind of delicate/thin for a logo; simple lines and forms in logos seem to be more eye-catching and are easier to reproduce. Think of some corporate logos you know of - ones that readily come to mind. Why do they come to mind? Do they have anything in common? Those basics of design carry over. I'd concentrate on your business name with a bolder font and choose one illustration logo to represent yourselves.

I agree, GW, but I think he needs two illustrations because two businesses are involved. That makes it much harder to come up with a clean design.

I agree with the bolder print for the names. What does the dragon stand for? Maybe a cornicopia instead?

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

The other party are Welsh. The dragon is a nationality thing.
It's been assoicated with their business forever. We are in a rural-suburban type area. Used to be all farms. Nearly all the farmers are Welsh. All the descendants live around the area. We will keep the dragon!

Ah, I didn't realize you were combining two business types within it - what about having the dragon as a watermark behind the whole main logo and having the wheelbarrow a little larger and beside the text rather than inside it? Am I making sense? It's hard to describe in words!

Pretty cool! Perhaps a bit more color tho. (By the way, is that really a dragon? Or a gryphon?)

Hey, Bernie - I found this dragon graphic a little while ago and thought you might want it. Just right-click it and "save picture as".

Thanks, it's now named GW dragon.
Found out tonight we need one for our farmers market site & advertising. So far we have a home page, mankatogrowers.com.
I will be doing all updates when it is completed.

Logo design is so fun - enjoy it! :)

I recognized the dragon instantly. My niece Megan and I spent a couple of weeks this summer touring Wales for her medieval studies summer program at Cambridge University (which was benevolently granted her by some wonderful person in Ohio). Did you know that Welsh is the oldest written European language? And that it sounds like it has no vowels, LOL? Loved the trip and the dragon is alive and well in the northern hills; I swear we saw a few faeries as well. Here's one with the name of the country (which they obviously don't call Wales but is pronounced something akin to "kamree."

And one from a napkin at the pub where we were drinking a local cider (not anything like the cider we know here, to be sure - read POTENT!).

And my favorite, taken out of a moving train window of a theatre building somewhere on the way to Betwys Y Coed. They sure do have some awesome dragons in Wales!

The Welsh for wales is Cymru pronounced koomree. My Granny used to tell us all sorts of funny things in Welsh.
I like the design as it is but find the whellbarrow text makes it a bit busy. It's a good slogan, could you squeeze it somewhere else?
Or maybe ditch the wheelbarrow and leave the flowers and the text?
I like the two diferent fonts a lot. and the circular lay out is very handsome and I love the dragon. Really it's very close to perfectly perfect.
My two cents(you did ask) is the two small logos (dragon/wheel barrow) should be more balanced with eachother. One is a Big Red and Black Dragon/Gryphon(simple)...... and the other is a pretty wheel barrow with Lots of pretty flowers in Lots of different colours with Lots of words in pretty colours (complex). (Very pretty on its own to be sure.)
I went through this(preDG) with my logo, and finally pitched everyones good advice and did what I liked. It is meant to represent you, and no one knows you better than you. Good Luck!!!!!!!And be thankful its Welsh Heritage and not some welshy Tryglywgwchllydyffaall Capel Bormfyllglylow .

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

CountryGardens, I think it is just about perfect, a simple, lovely, but interesting design. The wheelbarrow is just a little bit 'busy' though, maybe if it were stripped of the 'slogan' and the flowers, and left by itself, it would be more in the simple mood, as the dragon itself is. And a nice symbol, the wheelbarrow would be, of the 'country' aspect of your name and business. John
